4 out of 5 stars Great but slightly predictable   July 25, 2005

I really enjoyed reading this book, the characters were great and the storyline had quite a few twists and turns, many being totally unpredicted. But after reading Ralph's Party, her first book, the ending to Thirtynothing became slightly predictable towrds the middle and end of the book.

Although it was great reading about what happened to Dig and Nadine in the end, the same happened in Ralph's Party with Ralph and Jem (two main characters ending up together in the end, happily ever after) and it could have been made 'better' with a twist at the end or something not so 'predictable'.

I'm still looking forward to reading Lisa Jewells other books as she is a great author who writes a great book.

3 out of 5 stars Predictable!   April 6, 2005

Digby Ryan hasn't found true love since his best girl mate Nadine didn't want to know. Nadine Kite has spent the rest of her life wishing that she didn't knock him back. But when Delilah Lillie comes on the scene, things change...
Delilah was the cool girl at school, the girl everyone wanted to know. She was Dig's first girlfriend, and took him away from Nadine. She broke Dig's heart.
Suddenly, she comes back on the scene, leaving Nadine's nose firmly out of joint. Nadine is so jealous, that she contacts her first boyfriend, Phil, who was a sponger and compulsive liar.
Then things get predictable. Delilah portrayed as home wrecker. Check. Bouts of drunken jealousy. Check. Pain as characters realise what they should have done in the first place. Check.
A good book for a quick read.

5 out of 5 stars one of THE best books i have ever read!   July 29, 2004

if there is one book you have to read it has to be this one. i have read it numerous times. it is such a feel good book. the characters are well thought out and come alive on the page, they are loveable and the air of mystery around delilah makes it even better. im not goin to spoil the end but it just makes you put down the book with a huge grin on your face! anyone who is familiar with lisa jewells books will know that they are un-putdownable (not good with a 7am start!). i would recommend any of her books, but this one has to be by far the best! i have so far managed to get nearly every one of my friends on to Lisa jewell books and not a bad word has been said about them! goes to show really! so please take a chance and buy this book you will certainly not regret it! and spread the word on these fab books!!!

4 out of 5 stars Easy Listening   July 21, 2004

I hate these types of books, you know the ones - boy meets girl, (probably somewhere 'trendy' in London) everything goes well, everything goes wrong, will they won't they... But this one reeled me in, I loved it! Although you will know how this book is going to end within the first 2 chapters, (or lines if you are familiar with this book genre) it is addictive - shamefully so! Credit has to be given to Jewell for managing to intrigue the most suspicious of readers to persist with this easygoing, easy reading book. It is perfect for idling away the hours on a beach, in the bath, anywhere where you don't need to use your brain! Probably a good stopgap between reading War and Peace and A Brief History of Time!
