A Truly Wonderful Book December 19, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book got me hooked from the moment I started it.
It's a wonderful story about a man that is drawn to a family, while he stays with the family helps them all out individually.
Fabulous, I will definately to be reading more of Lisa's books.
What a Brilliant Book October 28, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Lisa Jewell does it again! I was totally addicted to this book, just like the others, I just could not put it down. The Characters are brilliantly thought out and planned. She uses little details to describe everthing which I loved. The quirky relationship of this family is what I liked the most as I think everyone will be able to relate to it. Genius
Enjoyable But Who Is Gervase? August 25, 2004 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
As usual, Lisa Jewell doesn't disappoint. She writes such engaging and believable characters that you really want to find out what happens to them, which is surely the sign of a good book! I couldn't wait to get back to this and was disappointed when it ended. One gripe though - I feel that Gervase is not properly explained (the blurb on the back cover says 'Who is the mysterious rockabilly ... and what does he want with the Londons?'), but the 'mystery' is left as just that. Spoiled the book a little for me, as you kept thinking there was going to be more to him.
A friend of mine!!!! July 16, 2004 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
Well this was fantastic. I read it in one go! Just could not put it down. The story of the London family is unique, yet you feel like it is a very familiar one. It really has you wondering what will happen to all the characters involved in the book. A must read! Well done Lisa Jewell. You've done it again.
A dose of hope July 5, 2004 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
When i finished " A Friend of the family" I couldn't believe that I wasn't going to know more about Gervase and the rest of the family London. It is the perfect book to take on holiday or even to read at home in your free time. It is charming, funny and full of emotion. It makes you think that in the world there is people who helps people in one way or another. And shows you how important is being a member of your own family.I recomend it to anybody who want to have a nice and cheerful reading time. Julia
