A very powerful book! February 12, 2008 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
I would say that this book is required reading for anyone committed to stepping out of their conditioned thinking. You can study it again and again and the content is always vibrantly alive.
The Power of "New!" February 12, 2008 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
When I was 14 years old, I had what is called a "spontaneous mystical experience," which put me in direct contact with the core of my being. I have never forgotten that experience, and what it taught me about who I truly am--that "my identity," as Tolle writes, "is not the content of my mind, but the awareness in the background."
In The Power of Now, Tolle did a good job of explaining that. But in his new book, A New Earth, I believe he does an extraordinary job of explaining the difference between pure consciousness and thought. No other book I have read explains "the ego" in such eloquent detail . . . describing what it is, how it functions, and how it inteferes with our happiness and fulfillment. Thank you, Eckhart, for this truly enlightening read.

One of the Best Spiritual Books!!! February 1, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
"A New Earth" takes ideas from Tolle's previous book "The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment" and it moves the discussion from expansion of personal consciousness to how an expanded consciousness can transform our planet.
Rarely do we find spiritual books that offer a clear perspective for both personal transformation of the self and global transformation of the earth that is offered by Tolle in this book.
The title aptly sums up the message: "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose." Our purpose requires a transcendence of our ego for both personal happiness and to end the violent conflicts on earth.
The book offers real hope and it is one of the best contemporary spiritual books. Others books you just have to read: "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle, "Living in the Light" - a New Age classic by Shakti Gawain, and "Nexus: A Neo Novel" - a poignant story of transformation.
More light...... January 2, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
It must be so difficult to write a book about how to live in the present moment because the act of trying to describe living in the present moment takes us away from it. Despite this difficulty, this book does an admirable job in helping people understand this and eventually "know" this in their hearts. I must admit that just reading the book was incredibly moving for me. This is a great book that helps on your path to the spiritual evolution of consciousness that many people talk about. The book that I presently like the most on this subject is "We are all one" by J.M.Harrison. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone truly interested in personal growth and harmony.
Tolles fails again November 1, 2007 10 out of 32 found this review helpful
Tolle attempts in this book to try something new. He has seen that his previous book the Power of NOw no longer works for most people and trys to add new ideas he has thought up. He charges 134 dollars to hear him talk about his book in Vancouver thois month. So rich people might feel this book is for them. The book promises enlightenment in a few years. Enough said. The Daily express in a one page article entitled Pain Guru or charlatan ? 25th June 2008, sums it up best "Even by the standards of the self help book industry, Eckhrt Tolles A New earth, is unutterable twaddle. smart open minded Spiritual seekers who have read just a little will spot the twaddle throughut.
