Giving up smoking is SO EASY. All you have to do is read the book. I had smoked for 20 years and now, even the thought of smoking makes me feel sick. I will never smoke again.
He's been where I've been - a living hell May 1, 1999 Reading this book has changed my life. I thought that I was going to smoke until I died from a smoking related illness. I feel as if I've had some sort of psychological operation. I have been emotional with relief for 7 months and will never ever smoke again - a genius. He understands all of my old private nightmares. Just buy it and never look back.
Giving up smoking is really easy April 14, 1999 The book is written by an ex smoker who understands how other smokers think and react to certain situations. This book explains why we as smokers do and say certain things. It breaks thru the myth of the really enjoyable cigarettes like eg. the after dinner ciggie. Once you have read the book you can clearly understand our reasoning behind smoking and just how we have been kidding ourselves all along. Giving up was incredibly easy with this. I wish that I had read this book years ago.
"A LIFESAVER!" April 7, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having tried most other means to stop smoking and failing, I never tried again for years. This was down to feeling a failure, not only by myself but by others also. To read a book which tells me 'Why?' I feel a failure instead of chastising me for it is a refreshing change. It put me at ease straight away by telling me not to give up whilst reading it.(This made me read on)It's chapters are short and easy to read, not long and boring but most importantly it is the content of each chapter which is so appealing and at times... humourous. I read this book in the last week of Feb. 1999 and had my last cigerette on 1st March 1999. The main reason (for me) that I 'quit' smoking is that 'someone' understood how I felt and did not 'cram it down my throat' like so many others.I was not pushed into reading it either, which is a great help. The main instigator to keeping me from smoking is pages 64-65 of chapter 21 (If you don't know this book read these pages if nothing else). Stoping smoking was not very hard once reading this book and I feel it is down to the fact that 'everything is in there' from 'habits' to black shadows/ withdrawal pangs/ brainwashing/ cost/ health/ energy/ secret smoking/ substitutes I could go on and on. but these are things you NEVER get from Doctors/ patches /gum etc., and this is the important side. I have many friends who are sober alcholics and they all say to me "It's not so much the drink, as the head it goes through!" I am a single father of a 7 yr old boy and to know I can set him a better example makes me feel very proud inside because I never thought I could do it. The biggest line which sticks with me is "starve the monster" which I now do and enjoy doing so as well. When I bought the book I was filled with an almost uncontrollable panic. It is this panic which keeps me from picking up another cigerette because I don't panic anymore BECAUSE I no longer smoke. I am no longer reliant on them, I don't need them, I don't want them and I don't crave them because I AM FREEEEEEE! I thoroughly recommend this book if smoke and no longer wish to! Thankyou Mr Carr. It works for me...... March 19, 1999 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Last time round (and the oly serious attempt before now) I used patches for 3 months, spending as much as on ciggies. This time round, read the book as a sceptic (I'm like that) and, blow me, it seems to work. I like being a non-smoker; it is really, really nice.
