5 out of 5 stars He is the Master   December 15, 1998

What an amazing book! You just have to love it. Everything you expect from Salinger only more. As the last of his books avilable here I have read it is most definatly the best. If only we could meet these people - Teddy? If you have not read it yet then do, but savour every line!

5 out of 5 stars Seymore and Teddy one and the same.   December 13, 1998

Aside from loving every story and all of the characters in them,I kind of wanted to point out that I don't think it was an accident that Perfect Day for Bananafish and Teddy bookend these stories.I personally believe (after many readings and one mystical experience)that Teddy and Seymore Glass are one and the same(Teddy being Seymore's last incarnation).I also believe there is some evidence of this in another Salinger book. That being said I would just like to add how beautiful all of these stories are and the undercurrent of spirituality that runs through them has at times been the only notion of God I could truly accept.Needless to say thumbs up!!!

5 out of 5 stars Meaningful and entertaining, some of Salinger's best.   November 28, 1998
It's hard to summarize Nine Stories in such a short space, so I will just go in directly and say that (like all of Salinger's other work) these stories are both meaningful and fun to read. I should also state that "A Perfect Day For Bananafish" is a must read for all Salinger fans of any degree. "For Esmu- With Love and Squalor" is another unforgettable story. Salinger's writing his hypnotic and, to say the least, brilliant.

Can anybody talk about Salinger after so many people?. He is one of the best, that's it. Nine Stories is a great book, whith great stories and from a great author. If u (the one that is reading this) didn't read it yet, make yourself a favor and get it.

there is so much more to j. d. salinger than we will ever know. the author digs and keeps on digging without apology. sometimes i have to re-read a passage; salinger IS deep; but i always appreciate the author's style and audacity.
