Heartwarming - a little treasure January 28, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Being someone who is involved in counselling I find myself getting tied in knots by the more erudite texts and some complicated people. After all these years, this little book brought all the basics back into focus. So simple, yet so thorough. I wonder if I was to give this to my clients when they first consult whether they would ever come back? Or maybe they would definitely return to 'do the work' knowing how much there was to be gained. Lucky Toad. Thank Goodness for Mole! Ratty might be very happy. I still have my doubts about Badger though!!
Life changing January 12, 2006 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
It's not often I read a book and think it has actually changed my life, but that's exactly what I thought with this one. It gave me completely new insights into the behaviour and feelings of myself and those around me. I read it as part of a counselling course, but since it is so readable I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This is a must read book for counsellors and anyone who felt for toad in The Wind In The Willows, it takes you through his therapy with Heron and thier unique counselling relationship together. See what transpires from Toad and where this journey takes him, once you have read it you will never watch or read The Wind In The Willows the same way again.

This book was recommended to read as part of the Counselling Studies course at Clapham College.I found this book so well written, it's the first counselling book that I have found easy to read.I had trouble putting it down. I feel I shall read it again and again.
Understanding Counselling July 9, 2004 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
A lovely book. If you have had anything to do with counselling you will identify with the characters and think "oh that's why I'm this way" Beautifully written and a clever way to take the dryness out of the subject and show how good counselling can have a really life changing effect. This book was recommended to me by a counsellor as a step towards understanding the process. A child could read it just as a story if they wished and still enjoy its charm.
