5 out of 5 stars Great book - great example of plagiarism!   September 18, 2007

I love this book, it is so wonderful compared to other self-help books where you are asked to sit down and think, write and analyse. You do (or mostly don't) do as you're told, feel enlightened for a day or two but eventually nothing changes. You go back to your old ways.
This book teaches you that it is ok to let go. Don't analyse, don't think so hard - just be. It is so inspiring and so simple to just be. And it changes your entire perspective.
I was so inspired by this book that I sought out similar books. I came across "My Way - Way of the White Clouds" by Osho and found that Tolles book is just a rewrite of Oshos book. He even uses the same examples. So why isn't Tolle getting into trouble for plagiarism? Maybe because Osho is dead or just because he knew that Osho would 'accept' it - which is what they both preach: to accept.

In my opinion this book is even better than Eckhart's first book 'The Power of Now'. I just cannot praise this book too highly.

For many years I have been reading self-help books in order to understand why I and others do what we do and why it does not always work out the way we intended.
Some of these books have been helpful, but they were not ones I wished to read again and again like this book 'A New Earth'.

I just cannot put this book down and each time I gain new insights into my own life and that of others too. I now operate on an entirely different wavelength than I used to. I am calmer in that I let go of 'stuff' that I would take the 'bait' for previously.

I can now see that the connection between the humans, the earth and the universe and where we all fit in with God. This is powerful writing that can only have been inspired from a spirituality source and not man's mind.

I do not consider myself a 'religious freak', but merely someone who wants to make sense of his life; this book, like no others is so powerfully written that it is life changing.

Do read this book, because if humanity is to survive it needs humans to re-assess their lives and become awakened and at the same time live a more satisfying life. Everyone gains!

4 out of 5 stars Fantasic! Inspiring and life changing!   March 27, 2007

This book is very much as inspiring and as easy to read as "The Power of Now". It only took me a few days to get through it and I found that, like the other book, it had effects on my life of giving me temporary inner peace.

My only criticism is that, in many respects, this is just a re-write of "The Power of Now". Also, the title is misleading because although Tolle considers how society would be different if we were not ego-driven, he doesn't really go into any proper detail about awakening to your life's purpose.

Nevertheless, it is a fantastic book and I recommend it to anybody interested in living a more spiritual and peaceful lifestyle!

At a time when everyone is searching for answers during what must be one of the most precipitous times in human history Eckhart Tolle provides hope and inspiration, not by providing answers, but by encouraging people to look within themselves and discover their own truth.

In my view this is not a book to read, but a book to study, a book to thoroughly digest and a book to use to create a better life for yourself and for humanity as a whole.

If you want to understand yourself better, if you want to understand others better and you want to understand life itself, get the book!
