5 out of 5 stars Very clever book!   February 18, 2008

I'm a recent convert to the low carb lifestyle having followed Whale Watchers [sic] on a number of occasions and owning a great many WW cookbooks.
Neris and India suggest that in order to lose weight and keep it off we have to address the emotional issues that surround our eating habits. We must learn that we are neither the kitchen bin nor a dog: we should not fill ourselves with rubbish nor treat ourselves with food. This cookbook supports that view in that it is a delight to own! It is beautifully illustrated, printed on high quality paper, and lays flat when you open it.
The recipes are easy to follow and produce delicious results. I would suggest that if you are a complete novice to cooking you might find the lack of precise instruction on what type of receptacle to use (a la Delia) a little unnerving. That's where the invaluable forum comes in jolly handy!

A perfect adjunct to the Diet book, not a replacement for it.

5 out of 5 stars doesn't feel like diet food   January 29, 2008

The recipes in this book are brilliant in their own right, not just as ways of combatting "low carb fatigue" that can sometimes arise from other narrower versions of low carb diets. You do need the main diet book as well as the recipe book to get the full benefit, but this has got me excited about cooking again and the weight loss is almost relegated to a nice side-effect!

5 out of 5 stars Easy to follow and lush tasting recipes   January 29, 2008

An excellent companion to the Idiot Proof Diet book, beautifully illustrated by Neris and containing recipes to cater for every mood, even entertaining! A must have for low-carb eaters.

5 out of 5 stars Bee Rawlinson is the new Domestic Goddess   January 29, 2008

What a fantastic book!
Easy on the eye with easy to follow recipes that will stand well in company or feed your family. Thankfully, no points to count, just honest tasty food.
I am slowing working my way through the book. I love it all but some of my favs. are the butternut, Brie & Sage Muffins (5*)and the perfectly fried sausages - sounds too simple to follow but believe me they are out of this world, served with onion marmalade and spring greens - delish!!
Move over Nigella, Bee Rawlinson Rocks!

5 out of 5 stars Inspiring ideas for low carb cooks!   January 27, 2008

Having lost nearly two stones following the Idiot Proof Diet, I was looking for inspiration now that I am in the maintenance phase. Being a working mother short on time and ideas, this book is already proving a hit. I've had it 2 days and have already had great success with the Raspberry Mousse, the Spanish Chicken and the Celeriac Dauphinoise! Other low carb cookbooks seem dull in comparison - not only are the recipes lovely, but the whole book is peppered (no pun intended) with the good humour that pervades its companion volume.
