Case won't protect your camera against damage September 10, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This case does not work to protect the camera against damage.
I've owned a Canon IXUS 60, with this soft leather case, for just over 18 months. This case is the one that Canon recommends for use with that camera (though as Georgie Pillson and John Lewis note, the case switches the camera to movie mode every time it's taken out of the bag).
I have always been extremely careful with my camera: whenever it's out of the case the cord is looped round my wrist. I've never had any damage caused to the camera when it was out of the case.
But, twice now, when the camera was in its "protective" case, the screen at the back has been damaged. On the first occasion, I discussed the damage with Canon and was eventually faced with their clear statement that they had no reason to believe I was telling the truth when I said the camera was in the case when the screen was damaged, so they would not compensate me for the damage. The repair was expensive but slightly less so than buying a new camera: I paid the bill. (The screen appeared to be literally cracked - no image was visible. It was buy a new screen or buy a new camera.)
The second occasion, much more recent: the screen is not broken, but seriously blurred, as if a permanent shadow is lying across it. Again: the screen was fine when I put it into the protective case - the damage occurred when the camera was inside the protective case. I may instead buy a new camera, and it will not be a Canon, though I like the design of the Ixus: I have no time for companies that recommend protective cases which do not protect, and which tell customers reporting problems with the protective cases that they are lying about the problem.
Too big for a little camera May 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
OK, so this is a good quality case well made from high quality material, but it's just too damn large. The camera is about 35% the thickness of the case! I bought the IXUS because it is a pocket sized camera but there's nothing pocket sized about this case.
I didn't like it, too bulky May 7, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
The camera does fit very snugly into this case, but if you're looking for a case that is just covers your camera (if that makes sense) this isn't it. It does add real bulk to the camera with (I think) a pointless belt look. The design isn't sleek, at all.
This case is protective, so that's good to look after your camera in your bag etc, but it turns a really neat, tiny camera into the sort of cameras you got ten years ago.
And that bloody belt loop...
Perfectly fine but !!! April 18, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
As mentioned in few other reviews, I also found this leather case perfectly fine except the issue of button which gets changed to movie mode. It's been some time when I purchased the camera and the case but still it surprises me after I press the button to take a snap but after few seconds I find it has started capturing video clip. Sometimes it irritates as you end up with few unwanted avi files that I need to delete, but overall it is a perfect case for my IXUS 75 as I think probably I should check the button (to ensure it in camera mode) before pressing the button.
good case March 30, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
after reading the reveiws on this case I bought one for my "little" camera (an ixus 75 ) and yes it does switch the video on but thats not really a problem.......its a tight fitting case that keeps the camera safe.......as a biker its great for me as it fits on my belt and doesn't fly open.....great case , good fit , buy it!!!!!
