Canon DCC-70 case for the IXUS 950 IS May 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Though this case is billed as 'soft', it is in fact reasonably firm and not what I expected at all. The surface leather is soft, but there is enough support in its structure to take a reasonably hard blow. This was very welcome as I wanted something both firm and leather, rather than padded nylon.
There is a slot for a belt to go through at the back and the cover fastens at the front with a very strong magnetic clip. The camera fits perfectly into this case and it even stands up nicely and safely on the cases base. There is a gap at the side for the cameras wrist cord to go through, so obvioulsy it's not perfectly water proof.
I would say it's a little bulky to fit into the pocket, which with the cases's 'soft' description I had expected, but it does leave the camera well protected and is very attractive and expensive looking. It probably offers as much, if not more protection from blows as the Samsonite versions. It would fit on a belt under a T-shirt easily, thought not really in the pockets of summer wear shorts and things, without leaving a fair bulge.
All in all, I would thoroughly recommend it, but don't expect a very thin, soft leather pouch. It is much more rigid than that. It is much better than I had expected, the 'bulk' still being vastly less than my Canon SLR, EOS 650 in its leather case. Amazon was, as always cheap and reliable.
Perfect for canon ixus 950 IS February 27, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
After reading various reviews to find the perfect case for my canon ixus 950, I decided to go for this one. Although its not actually stated in the title of this product, this case IS suitable for the 950IS, and says so on the packaging of this case.
I think this is a lovely fit for my camera - not too tight (like some) and not too loose either. Its good quality leather, lightly padded, and I think the 'purse' style is quite cute (my opinion anyway).
5 stars....because I'm very happy with this product and glad I chose this one for my canon ixus 950IS!!!
Great genuine product February 18, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Only 4 stars as the price is a little high. The product tho gets 5 starts. Genuine Canon accessory, not an imitaiton and genuine leather. Fits like a glove, but you can still slip a spare memory card in the case. Dont worry about the flappy side bit people have mentioned, i have not had a prob with it. Feel much safer carrying my 860is around in it. Fits brilliantly and is very slimline, especailly when compared to such generic cases as lowepro. Definately recomend, and well done amazon for super fast delivery!
Nice custom case but button fastening could be better September 28, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was initially a little annoyed that Canon didn't include a case within the 280 price tag for the camera I'd bought. However, if you've bought the camera it is worth buying this case rather than a generic camera case. As a case specifically designed for the camera the fit is nice and snug. It slips discretely on your belt and you scarcely know you're wearing it. The only minor flaw is that the button fastening is not quite as secure as I'd like.
Good case, but the lining isn't the best September 14, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is an excellent case for the money. It's sturdy, quite stiff (although it can be flexed as you need to), and it has that great smell of genuine leather. There's a slot on the side so that you can feed through the wrist strap on the camera. The belt loop is sturdy and secure. So why did Canon go and spoil it all by giving it a nylon silk-effect lining ? As a previous reviewer mentioned, either a soft suede effect or something similar would have been much better. I don't think the nylon lining will mark the camera at all, but it's a bit of an oversight by Canon nonetheless. However, an easy 4 star plus.
