So good that I've bought a copy for myself! October 29, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is an exquisite children's book. The illustrations are so beautiful in themselves I would love one to frame for my wall. The story is also delightful and a good read for children and the young at heart!
An interesting book about the sea and friendship April 28, 2001 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
A fishermans best friend is his cat. He belongs to her. The weather is too bad to fish and the fisherman takes it upon himself to try to go out in the storm anyway. A good story about friendships, weather and a tiny village in Cornwall. The pictures are fantastic. A beautiful book to treasure.
A Beautiful Story, Most Beautifully Illustrated November 26, 2000 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful story, gently told. And as wonderful as the story are the most gorgeous illustrations which conjure up this Cornish village and the cat of the title. This is a story of raging storms at sea and a cat that sings to calm the waves to bring his master home. This is a story to read to a little one wrapped up warm in bed with a hot drink and low lights as the rain lashes against the window and the wind howls through the trees. I can well imagine this book to be a favourite of my daughters in time to come. Our copy is already well thumbed and loved.
Well told tale with beautiful illustrations July 12, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my little son Gwilym and neither he nor I have tired of the story yet. He loves the illustrations, too.
A beautiful book May 21, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is based on a Cornish folk tale. It is the story of a cat and his pet (a fisherman)who brave a storm to ensure that the children of Mousehole have food to eat at Christmas. The book is beautifully written and illustrated, it really is a joy to read.
