5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book - Don't leave home without it   September 23, 2004

For a first time visit to this part of France with children this book was a lifesaver. Whatever the weather there was always something to do or somewhere to go listed in the book. Any town or village we went through seemed to be listed along with usful and interesting details (and great restaurants). It was required reading every evening to plan for the next days activities. Shame it wasn't available (I didn't see it) in the region as my copy seemed to get borrowed by most Brits on the campsite.

At last, a travel guide that gives you useful, practical information, AND it doesn't just concentrate on the main sights.
We are in the process of buying our own holiday home in the Vendee, and have already used the book on several visits to find some lovely 'out of the way' places. Use it in conjunction with Angela's excellent website and you have everything you need for a trip to the beautiful vendee region of France.

5 out of 5 stars The Vendee   August 15, 2002

This was an excellent book to take on holiday. The information was second to none. Angela Bird has certainly done her homework. Before we left England the kids had read it and written a list of where they wanted to visit. When we got there, we then shortlisted them and armed with the book, set out and had a really good time. For anyone visitng the Vendee this book is a must, definately not boring and quite humerous in places. The family in the caravan next to us were going to buy a copy when they went back home. As it was, there were 6 families looking at it in an evening and writing down instuctions so that they could visit they day after.
Well done Angela and thankyou.

5 out of 5 stars wouldn't visit the Vendee without it   January 17, 2002

Our copy of this book becomes ever more battered as we take it (or it takes us) round the Vendee time and again. Small and light enough to carry with you, it details everything - from themeparks , museums and the smartest resorts to oyster beds, break-of-dawn canoe trips and particularly eccentric cafes. Not only that, it tells you when, how much, and what you will see on the way. Breathtakingly spectacular, bizarre or charming, if it is in the Vendee, it is in this book.
Clear, concise , easy to use and easy to read. With lots of background and practical information, I can hardly imagine visiting the Vendee without it.
