You will be amazed just how well this works January 9, 2007 36 out of 38 found this review helpful
I participated in this programme in February of 2006 together with 9 other dieters. In just 28 days I lost 5 kilos (or 11lbs in old money). As of January 2007 I have lost a total of 15.2 kilos (over 2.5 stones) and I feel absolutley wonderful. I believe this programme works because it educates you to combine food types so that your body burns energy efficiently. The variety of great foods and recipes in this book is truly amazing. Since changing the way I eat permanently, I have boundless energy, look and feel great, and my need for anti-acid medication has virtually been irradicated. Thank you Ian for a great book and new and healthy life.
Highly recommended diet Plan January 8, 2007 41 out of 41 found this review helpful
Ian Marber is a gifted writer, his advice is inspirational but his approach is realistic, practical and balanced. He is also understanding of the challenges of losing weight and starting on a healthy eating plan for good. It starts with a section for assessing your lifestyle, which is quick and easy to do and highlights any health or well being concerns. There's a day to day initial 7-day diet followed by three weeks of day to day plans to help you gradually move on to the '10 principles'. The dieters show you that weight loss is achieveable whatever your age or lifestyle. Their diaries provide support, which give you more confidence in how the plan is working for you and how you are feeling. There's plenty of excellent advice from Ian Marber with 'tips of the day', diary pages to write your own notes to help you stay motivated and advice for eating away from home. The food is varied and there's plenty of delicious recipes to suit every taste.
After being told what foods I can't eat I developed a negative view of food. But since starting the Food Doctor '10 principles' I feel much more positive and so much haopier with my relationship with food and my healthier lifestyle. As well as the weight benefits, the 'A little and often' principle is so effective, it maintains my energy all day, as well as noticable smoother skin and healthier nails.
The book is a well presented step by step plan that really does help you lose weight, and help you to make the changes for a healthier lifestyle for good.
A new year a new way to eat! January 5, 2007 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
As one of the 10 volunteers of the Food Doctor Diet Club book, I thought I would share some of my views on this great plan. I have found the plan useful in introducing a healthy variety of new foods and new ways to cook old favourites. The book is easy to use as you get day-by-day menu plans so you know what to buy and when to prepare things in advance. You get recipes for breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner and even brunch for those lazy weekends. As you go through the 30 day plan you start to learn the Food Doctor's 10 principles, which you start to implement in your everyday life. The ring bound format is a great idea, so when it comes to read recipes whilst cooking the pages don't jump shut as the book lies flat. I hope you enjoy the recipes as much as I did.
practical and easy to follow guide tochanging eating habits for ever January 3, 2007 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
As one of the original Diet Club members, I can speak from experience of following the plan and principles. It's simple to follow, practical when catering for a family and provides great recipes for entertaining friends as well. It suits every lifestyle, eating out is no problem you just apply the main principles when you make your choice. The principles are easy to remember and become habit very quickly, & that's what it's all about- changing habits for good so that life is no longer a battle of will power around food. There is such a variety of foods allowed that I now choose them in preference to foods that used to cause weght gain and bloating for the flavour rather than just because they're better for me. I've learnt so much and am more imaginative with recipes and food combinations now. This year I spent the first Xmas without dreading how much weight I was going to put on - none! I am delighted that this is now available to everyone, when you buy the book you are buying hours of top nutritional consultation for a few pounds, and it's been tried and tested!
How do I know it works? I'm a member of the Diet Club! January 3, 2007 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Not only is this a perfect post-Christmas weight-loss plan but unlike may others it's effects are designed to last. I am one of the dieters from the book and initially signed up because I not only wanted to lose weight but also wanted to address my raised blood pressure and poor sleep patterns. I went on to lose more weight than expected and also found that the changes to my day-to-day diet led to a better night's sleep and crucially lower blood pressure.
The book is well structured and features some great recipes. Rather than simply telling you what you should and should not eat it explains in a non-preachy or patronising way how and why certain foods affect your metabolism and arms you with the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed.
