Disappointing January 22, 2008 32 out of 36 found this review helpful
First let me say that I am fan of this author and so was looking forward to the new book but was very disappointed when it arrived. There is nothing new in this book from the other books. It seems to be a re-hash to be honest. The photography is poor - the food appears dull. The message is identical to the other books by this author and the recipes are very much those seen before. All in all don't buy this book if you have the others by this author. If not then you will probably get something out of this.
So disappointing! January 16, 2008 44 out of 47 found this review helpful
I am sooooo disappointed. I am a fan of the food doctor but wanted a new 30 day diet.. with new ideas and new recipes to get my 2008 diet kick-started! This book simply replicates exactly the same diet as in the Food Doctor Diet Club. It even has the same pictures. Don't buy this if you have any of the previous books!
THE ESSENTIAL Guide to Weight Loss and Healthy Eating January 7, 2008 84 out of 93 found this review helpful
For me this really is the Ultimate diet book that I, or anyone could ever want or need. It's got everything you need to help you lose weight, keep the weight off and eating a healthier diet for life. It has the right nutritional adive to help keep my digestive system, skin and nails healthy too, the definitive diet book! It's a compilation of the previous Food Doctor diet books by incorporating all the key elements from them, making it the Food Doctor Ultimate 'manual'.
For me the '10 principles' are now my invaluable guide. I've developed a much more positive and balanced approach to eating, (the '10 principles' are explained in detail at the beginning of the book). What is important in any weight loss and healthy eating plan is that is has to be a practical long term way of eating which for me this plan is the one.
The Ultimate diet book takes the inital 7-day diet with no calorie counting, just nutritionally sound advice from cover to cover. This then leads on to the 30-day plan to help ease you into the '10 principles' which will form your eating guide for the future. This book also combines with some of delicious recipes from previous diet books and the recipe book. These include lots of flexible meal options and a great choice of snacks to eat at home or on the go. I've been really grateful fpr having such a wide choice of ideas for meals and snacks.
The Ultimate diet book is packed with Ian Marber's excellent advice and he really does understand the ups and downs of weight loss and eating better for life. He is a gifted writer who makes you feel like you have all the support that you could ever want from a diet book. It is realistic advice too, the 80/20 principle means it is truely balanced, sensible approach to eating for life. My family and I find the prnciples so easy and have become second nature now. We lost the weight we needed to achieve, keep it off and really enjoy our food too! The Food Doctor advice has for the first time enabled me to understand blood sugar control, and eating the correct portion size for me as an individual, I also enjoy my food again too!
It is well put together as a compilation of the previous books, the layout is very clear and user friendly as always. The Ultimate diet book really is the only diet book you will ever need!
