2 out of 5 stars Far too wordy   September 28, 2000

Don't get this if you are off for a city break or similar. It is written in a very dry style and would benefit greatly from some more headings. The maps are over detailed and too small to be of value. I bought it on the strength of the Los Angeles Times review and have definitely regreted it. Perhaps its one for the pseuds but I'm just a regular traveller.

5 out of 5 stars a useful mixture of practical and background information   August 26, 1999

There wasn't much missing here (no reference to the evening Moon Express tourist train, but I'm hard pushed to think of any other omissions); the guide helped me get the best out of a brief stay in the city. Very good on transport and sights to see,and maps were clear and easy to use (esp. colour maps at the back) Index also a plus. One of the best informed and readable travel guides I've used; I'd certainly choose a Rough Guide over others after using this one. Tip: the Pedrera is unmissable, and don't eat in El Rey de la Gamba - at least not if you want to avoid food poisoning.
