5 out of 5 stars 2nd best Shark movie of all time   June 26, 2007

It's a given that this sequel isn't as good as the first, how could anything be? but Jaws was so huge in the 70's that they simply had to make a sequel.
A lot of people knock the film and because of comparing it to Jaws I don't think it gets the credit it should as a great shark movie, and let's face it there aren't many around, I think Deep Blue Sea is the only other decent shark movie, forget Jaws 3 and 4 they were just silly 2nd rate cash-ins.

The film still has Captain Brody in it and his family, which gives it a believable continuity from the first, I remember seeing this at the Cinema on its release and it had all the tension of the first movie, a great movie to watch this coming summer before you go into the water on your holidays!

4 out of 5 stars Quite good   February 4, 2007

After seeing the first Jaws i began craving to see the second. I was sent Jaws 4 instead, i didn't particuarly enjoy it and have to say that you may still love this even if you disliked the 3rd and 4th movies. Jaws 2 is rather different to the first and definitely isnt worth the same value as the original, that was just a classic. However this is an enjoyable/family style movie, definitely worth buying! I think the 1st Jaws is the best out the lot, many probably agree, but i still reccomend you to watch this!
I say stick to the first and second of this series as the other two get rather crappy.

4 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first but still great   July 7, 2006

This film i brilliant. It may not be better than the first but it is FAB. The shark looks Real and the burns on its face looks real. One of my favourite bits was when Cheif brody and his wife find a boat and a girl is there. When they ask what happen she say sh-shsh-shhh-shark!!. It Fantastic. The death scenes are good but the reason i gave it a 4 was because of that girl all she did was scream and scream apart from that this film ROCKS!!!

4 out of 5 stars Sh-sh-shh-shhh-SHARK! Fantastic!   September 5, 2004

I don't care what anyone says, this is a damn good sequel to Jaws. Scheider is back in his role of Brody, but the kids are a bit older and have retained their love of messing about in boats..... you can see where this is going, can't you?

Jaws II has some great scenes, and while the story might not be quite as strong as the original, it certainly should not be lumped together with b-movies like Pirrana (shame on you, Amazon!). Being a sequel, there is also room for some great lines: "....and I know what a shark looks like, because I've seen one up-close!". Ahhh, we love Chief Brody!

I strongly suggest you buy Jaws, Jaws II and Jaws: The Revenge - anything with Michael Caine is worth going overdrawn for - and skip Jaws III. It's worth just to note that this family of shark is the only one to have eaten a boat, a helicopter and a plane - now, there's movie trivia for you.

4 out of 5 stars Similar to the first.   May 7, 2004

Sequels aren't always trash, they're not always better than the original, they're not always as bad as the original. This one is not as good as the first, but it isn't all that bad. I feel the film is a lot like the first, the same characters from the first are in it, it's set in the same place (Amity island) and the shark is just the same really.

This time this one is mainly about a shark, from the same family as the one from the original -- I think -- which is coming back to the island to finish off the work the other shark started. Cheif Brody (Roy Scheider) believes that the mysterious deaths occuring in the water might be the work of a shark, soon he gets too close and starts to panic people, and he gets fired. Then a group of teenagers (two being Cheif brody's two sons) sail out to sea, but then the shark comes to wreck havvac on them, so Cheif Brody tries everything he can to save them all.

This film is no match to the original film, but it's good fun, and can keep you on the edge of your seat at points. Be careful about 3 and 4 though, the sequels begin to get worse.
