British Comedy at its best. June 8, 2007 80 out of 80 found this review helpful
This box set is a hoot. This is comedy at its best. The box set contains 5 individually boxed DVDs which are also sold separately. If you already own the individual DVDS, you may not need to purchase this again. The contents are as follows DVD1 -Blue coloured case containing the - The Complete First Series DVD 2 - Purple coloured case containing - The Specials -The Christmas lunch and the Easter Bunny DVD 3 - The red coloured case containing - The Complete 2nd series - Love and Marriage
DVD4 -The white coloured case containing - The Seasonal Specials - Autumn. Winter. Spring. Summer. DVD 5 -Gold and red coloured case containing - A very Dibley Christmas -Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
You will enjoy this box set over and over, the comedy is timeless.

Dibley & Dawn French are as ever fantastic - however I am disappointed that it could still be marketed as 'The Complete Collection', since it doesn't include the 2006/7 Christmas specials. The box clearly states that it contains every episode - obviously this was true when it was first released, but it's not any more. Misleading marketing.
One of the funniest things on TV! April 22, 2007 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
The Vicar of Dibley is one of the funniest ever british sitcoms, and this truly amazing collection includes most of (not all) the series.
The five discs include the first, second and third series, the christmas lunch incident, the easter bunny, merry christmas, happy new year, and a comic relief special. The only downside is, that two other comic relief specials are missed off, as well as the final three episodes (but you can't blame them as they were created after the dvd was released.
It is thoroughly enjoyable, and I was so amazed, I ended up watching all eighteen episodes in a week. I was quoting bits for months! A perfect sitcom, with an amazing cast, and VERY special guests.
Brilliant, but you didn't need me to tell you that... October 13, 2006 294 out of 297 found this review helpful
The box set is great. A must have for any fan. One thing to point out, Amazon, and a few other sites I seem to recall, seem to pair this with the separate Christmas Specials 'A Very Dibley Christmas' DVD (relesed at the same time as this boxset). This is unnecessary as that EXACT DVD is provided in this boxset, complete with Comic Relief extras (not listed on box). So don't think you have to buy both!!!
Worth having, but what happened in the editing room? August 4, 2006 51 out of 58 found this review helpful
The Vicar of Dibley was such a fun programme that it remains as one of the best British comedies. I was very pleased to receive this collection as it still makes me laugh.
My only criticism concerns the editing of the DVDs - what happened? Not all `Dibley' fans will know what I mean, but in some episodes there are lines and scenes that weren't there before (e.g. the hair dyeing scene `Love and Marriage'). Not only that but some scenes have been cut, possibly to counteract these additions (e.g. the moment when the villagers sing in `Dibley Live'). In my opinion this has led to some extra comic moments which are great to see, but has also given a less punchy/spontaneous feeling. It has certainly made me appreciate the power of the editor, though it probably won't bother most viewers.
Despite this minor point this is certainly a collection worth having, particularly if you are looking for something light, funny, and highly watchable.
