3 out of 5 stars Good product, lousy support   October 2, 2008

Five stars for the product, no stars at all for BT's customer support.

The product is great - I've owned a cheaper baby monitor and it wasn't worth having because of interference. This one has all the features you need and you don't have to listen to buzzing all evening!

But... the one I bought was faulty - the mute feature wouldn't turn off (intermittently) so the baby yelled and we heard nothing. BT offer an email support service which they simply ignore and a helpline number which (while free - they've changed it from 0870: good!) isn't answered within any reasonable time. So buy the product, check it works (took us 2 weeks to be sure ours didn't) and be comforted by the fact that Amazon has a great returns process for faulty goods. Watch out if you buy it from anyone else, though! They might have the same stuff-the-customer attitude as BT.

1 out of 5 stars Absolutely useless!   September 28, 2008
This monitor wouldn't work outside our house - not so handy on pleasant summer evenings! The sound then completely stopped working during the night (was working when we went to bed so wasn't something we were doing). By the 3rd time this happened we'd completely lost confidence in the monitor and went back to using our old Philips analogue model. Would not recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic value for money - look no further!   September 28, 2008

We purchased this monitor for our second child, after she was born 14 months after our son. We have the Tomy walkabout for him, but this is better by miles.
Crystal clear sound and it is fab that the monitor 'sleeps' so only comes on when your child stirs - so no constant interference in the background. Loads of channels to, so works well with other monitors if you have more than one baby!
One minor complaint - the parent unit begins to beep when the battery is running low (very quietly), but no additional warning that the battery is really about to go! A couple of times, I have looked up and realised that the unit has 'died' having not taken much notice of the low warning noise. Could do with one final distinct loud beep before the battery dies.
Good price n Amazon too.

5 out of 5 stars Don't look any further   August 30, 2008

We bought this baby monitor after being guided by the other reviews on Amazon. I'm pleased to report that we've been equally impressed!

I won't go into tons of detail - other than to say it does everything that you would need for a newborn, plus more. Don't worry about the more expensive 150 model - the extra gadgets are overkill. The 100 does everything you need, plus a few extra bits that you might never use (the tunes it plays are a nice touch - but never used in our house).

And, we live right under the Heathrow flight path and never had a single bit of interference!

Spend your money with confidence.

5 out of 5 stars In response to the breaking down comment   August 26, 2008

I thought this had happened to me then I discovered that (at least in my case) it is a feature. There is a mode where the unit can be set to only turn the speaker on when the sound goes above a preset level. In order to set this level. Press the button bottom left with the picture of an ear on it. Then quickly use the volume buttons to set a level. All the way up turns the "feature" off. It is very easy to accidentally turn this feature on!
