Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Oi, look here. Oidz might well sound like a cream for a rather painful condition in the posterior region, but these silvery oblongs have no known healing properties. Instead, their inner core replicates the magnetism of Earth itself to produce beautiful, fascinating, mellow sound. In every box come two sleek metallic bullets, looking for all the world like something from a world far away from our own. Beautifully smooth and magnificently metallic, the Oidz mask a deeper purpose, other than being simply marvellous to look at. Harnessing the little understood power of magnetism, they can be manipulated in all sorts of ways to produce supremely ethereal sounds. Think of the background noise of deep space with a hint of Hammer horror and just a touch of spaghetti western. That's one way of putting it, certainly. Or imagine the collective hum of an entire asteroid belt being slowly and mercilessly pulled towards a black hole. Now you know and I know that sound doesn't travel in the vacuum of space, but that's simply not the point. So how does it work? Where are the speakers? Is it all wireless? We simply don't know. There aren't any. And, no. Respectively. It's all to do with magnets. Or, as we prefer to call it, the majesty of the universe.

3 out of 5 stars Believe the warning - keep Oidz away from computers!   November 5, 2006

The kids have enjoyed their Oidz, but I would like to draw any purchaser's attention to the warning on the box to keep them away from electrical and computer equipment. We did read this and warned our children last Christmas Day to keep their Oidz away from the laptop, but by September my 7 year old had forgotten this warning and the laptop seemed like a good surface to try and stick the Oidz to. Several hundred pounds later, our crashed laptop returned from the specialists with nothing retrieved - EVERYTHING lost. We were told that the hard drive was one of the most damaged the retrieval/repair company had seen. These are STRONG magnets. Be warned parents - Oidz are good fun for children, but not for computers!

Two shiny ovoid magnets....they tend to clatter together..that's the 'noise'.
Don't believe me..look closely at the diagrams above:)

“I bought my Oidz last week and have not put them down since I got them. Great noise, really tactile to hold and a lot of fun. I especially like the Asteroidz which I got in my triple pack.

I would recommend these to anyone who wants something a little different than the normal gadgets that are around. 10/10….Claudia.”

5 out of 5 stars People magnets!   March 22, 2006

I ordered a pair of Oidz as I liked their appearance and was interested to hear the "oidz noise". I took them into the office and everyone was fascinated by them! My niece has also discovered all sorts of tricks you can do with them (I have since ordered two more pairs for her and her brother) and I have to say, I really like the idea that they are learning about magnetism as well as having fun with this very interesting toy. The noise is unlike anything I've ever heard, when I make the sound people stop and ask "what's that?!"

Highly recommended.
