4 out of 5 stars Nice item for little "princesses"   August 16, 2008
I have had no problems with this item. As previous reviewers have stated you do have to turn the thing off before charging - however it does clearly state this on the packaging.
I personally wouldn't expect a night light to be too bright. It gives off just the right amount to make a little girl feel safe. Torch is quite good too - and easy to operate for little fingers.
We simply connect it to the mains in the morning and leave to charge, then it's ready for sleep time again.

4 out of 5 stars Very useful - just remember to turn it off in the morning!   June 16, 2008
I bought one of these 9 months ago as I was started potty-training my twins and I wanted something to light the room enough for them to find their way to the bathroom.

It has been ideal for us - we generally do not use it as a torch (although the girls had lots of fun with it to start with) but mostly as a nightlight.

I turn it off every morning (so that it charges) when I get the girls dressed or open the curtains and it lasts all through the night. I have also found that if I discover that I haven't turned it off it just needs a few minutes, usually around 30-40 mins while I get the girls ready for bed and read stories, and it will still last all night.

4 out of 5 stars Good   May 4, 2008
We bought for our five year old daughter and have found it really good. Have had for about six months now. It does need to be on the charger and turned off to charge. So have to remember to turn it off in the morning. The nightlight gives some light, but really for comfort rather than to see your way around with. Once you lift off the base thought it becomes a good bright torch.

1 out of 5 stars Wish I'd seen the reviews before I wasted my money   May 1, 2008
Bought this light thinking it was cute and ideal for my 2 year old as she loves everything princess and that it would be safe, reassuring and useful for her when she gets up in the night. Problem is you have to remember to charge it for like a million hours and then you realise that it was switched on while charging (easily done and what a waste of time). And the glow is very poor. I would have been better off buying an additional fading touch lamp (like the one I've had for 7 years and have only had to replace the bulb once) and a torch for my 2 year old as that's the bit she likes about this lamp.

2 out of 5 stars Not much of a light   April 25, 2008
My daughter loved the look of this light but it has 2 major flaws. As a night light it is far too dim, it has a red glow around the light but the room is still too dark to see past the end of your nose. As a torch the light is fine for a child, but the large cone shape makes it awkward for small hands to grip. In my opinion it was a waste of money and we're looking for a new night light.
