buy it tacima cs939 mains filter August 15, 2008 If you have got a real hifi (not from currys or a fridge seller)this filter makes such a difference in the quality of sound. tighter bass more defined treble and a purer mid range. you get as much difference in the sound like when you change interconnects or speaker cables. but if you have a stack system it wont make to much difference as you need the quality there to start with. Its cheaper on amazon than ebay so buy itTACIMA MAINS CONDITIONER 6 WAY WITH RF FILTER
Sound Placebo with Surge Protection August 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This ugly black trailer socket will do what it says, a little mains filtering and surge protection. As for improving sound quality I'm a sceptic. It's doing what the transformers in your device do anyway. Having had one of these (purchased as surge protection, from a famous electronic component supplier) I can't hear any difference at all. I wouldn't expect to.
Still a bit of surge protection is good to have and worth 20
Build quality is just OK. Rather Light and plasticy. Flexes and twists alarmingly as you try to remove plugs from the tighter sockets.
Awesome value for money August 2, 2008 This product works very well indeed. The quality of my LCD picture has improved, with less background haze, better skin tones, deeper blacks, richer reds, and the sound is also much more refined. All in all, this does exactly what it says on the tin, and for an almost give away price. You MUST get one of these for ALL your sound and vision components.
Best Hi-Fi upgrade I have ever purchased!! June 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't fault this product, purchased 2 of these about 6 months ago and the biggest improvement I noticed was in the picture quality of my LCD TV and Blu Ray player, images looked sharper with the colours more detailed. This upgrade is really a no brainer especially for the price and I can't recommend this enough.
Disappointing June 14, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this 6-way mains filter on the basis of the what hifi recommendation and the customer reviews on Amazon. However after testing it with a denon cd player, Onkyo mini system and my tv/dvd player I found no significant improvements in sound or picture quality.
The item appears to be solid in construction and does function perfectly well as a normal 6-way extension should. However I find it's fairly unattractive to look at with some components on display through a small plastic window- I assume the manufacturer did this to demonstrate that it is more that your average extension lead.
My advice would be to buy a cheaper, quality 6-way with surge protection if you need one and give this a miss.
If you're still unconvinced do a search on the internet as there are articles dismissing the claimed benefits of mains filters. I wish I had of done, then I could have saved myself a few quid- still you live and learn.
