Essential student/professional item October 3, 2008 Just got mine today. It's excellent. Plug and play, with a whopping 320gigs for something that's thinner and lighter than my textbooks. Much as i love my laptop, i find it can be a pain in the ear to lug around from from home, to work, to college, then back home... especially when there's computer access at all 3 locations.
Transfer is super fast as well - unlike my USB sticks which can sometimes struggle a bit.
Very quiet, and fits into my tough old PDA case (now that PDAs are kinda obsolete with all the iPhones lol).
Superb.
Plastic and DOA October 2, 2008 Flirted with buying one of these. Arrived DOA with disk errors - well, that can happen. But not impressed with the plasticky bendy case. Returned it for a refund and bought a LaCie mobile drive - same size, slightly lighter, metal case - instead.
light and portable October 1, 2008 Excellent bit of kit. I've been using it for 5 months, and it's one of the best buys I've made. It's small, lightweight, and highly portable. It's great for travelling, as it runs off the USB, rather than having to rely on a seperate power source like my old external hard drive.
Almost perfect September 30, 2008 Had the harddrive for a little over a month and it works perfectly on my laptop with USB 2. Download and upload speeds are good and it certainly saves on having piles of CD's and DVDs. Why not five stars then - the connecting lead between unit and laptop/PC is about 6" long which if you have your laptop in a fixed position is fine, but if you use it on trains or just resting on your lap means looking for a convenient place to put it. A 3' cabel would have been perfect.
Simple, elegant, works straight out the box: fab September 29, 2008 I've owned this hard drive for about a month now and have to say I think it would be hard to beat it. It's compact, stylish and very light, and best of all, you can just take it out the box, connect it to to your computer via the USB cable and it starts up straight away. I'm on an iMac which automatically loads the Time Machine software as soon as it detects the new drive, but I'm assuming it's as just as easy on a PC. There are no fiddly wires or complicated CD installation instructions, it's so quiet as to be almost silent and it has enough memory to store all the files on my computer. I think I'm in love.
