Excellent product May 13, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I saw this and thought, 'what a good idea'. I then decided to buy this rather than a strimmer. (Having owned two strimmers and having got fed up of having to feed the cutting twine by hand, enough was enough). I also bought the long handle for the Isio. When I powered it up I thought it was not cutting quick enough, the blades seemed to be moving quite slow, but it is doing the job better than a strimmer. It is ideal on grass and thin growth on bushes. It will simply stop if it is too thick, mind you, it is not a hedge trimmer and will not cope like a purpose hedge trimmer will. The battery charge lasts long enough for my needs having done a good 50' of edging without it running out of charge. Cracking item. Highly recommended.
Gain with no pain April 8, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
What a great little gadget. It is lightweight, fun and really effective. As I got older I had progressed from two handled shears to one handed shears (which were much easier) but found that I was getting blisters when edging the lawn in my small garden. I find strimmers much too noisy and fierce so this Bosch tool was the next step and I am very pleased that I made the purchase. I don't have any problem with bending at the waist so am very happy just to have the hand held version without the telescopic handle.
I didn't purchase the shrub trimmer as I mostly have climbers and bedding plants but would certainly do so if my garden design changed.
Fantastic Little Gadget August 8, 2007 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
My mother suffers from arthritis and trapped nerves in her right arm and neck. She also has knee problems which means that standing and bending can be a real pain, and often sitting is the only comfortable way she can complete a lot of gardening tasks. She is a keen gardener, and has been despairing about how she can keep the lawn edges tidy, and then she saw this advertised. I was sceptical as to how effective it would be, and am pleasantly surprised to say that it surpassed all my expectations. It's a light and robust little gadget, and it does its job well. The edges of one flower bed that would have taken an hour with traditional shears and caused my mother immense pain at the end of it took only 5 minutes, with no pain afterwards.
The shrub trimming blade is also pretty nifty. It's ideal for smaller shrubs and hedges, for keeping larger hedges neat, and for tidying up archways in hedges.
My mother literally burst into tears of happiness after using this for the first time. It has quite honestly improved her life as she is able to enjoy gardening again with awkward tasks such as edge trimming suddenly becoming some of the easiest jobs in the garden.
I can recommend this machine without any hesitation. It was worth every penny just to see my mum enjoying gardening without pain again.
Shame about the handle June 18, 2007 23 out of 30 found this review helpful
This product is a great idea. The battery lasts long enough to get round both of my medium sized lawns however there is one major drawback. This product is designed to cut grass and this means you have to shuffle along bent double to cut the grass. This is not easy and gives you back ache. There is a handle available which allows you to stand up when using the trimmer but it is not sold separately. Don't buy this without the handle, pay the extra and buy the model with the handle supplied. Bosch should review their marketing techniques as the displays show pictures of the trimmer with a handle but don't tell you they are not available separately. Without the handle this is a good product spoiled by impractical method of using it.
