Satin Black is an outstanding NEW modern colour with a unique finish, which offers real performance benefits for healthy cooking.
We've kept all the benefits of cast iron cookware and improved the interior which is specifically designed for quicker and higher surface temperature cooking.
The delicious sear lines on grilled food, or the slightly crusty outside to a wonderfully seared steak is achieved when the interior surface of the cookware is at high surface temperatures.
SATIN BLACK is proven to be better for such use and at the same time allows a very desirable surface `patina' to build up - a `patina' is a baked on surface produced through continuous cooking. It's a natural result of the oils used for cooking and the oils and fats from the foods themselves.
Eventually, the stronger this patina becomes, fat free and easy release cooking can be achieved.
Due to the extremely efficient heat retaining properties of all our cast iron products, the ideal interior surface temperatures will be achieved on medium heat.
SO.......is the interior non-stick?
Technically, no it is not.
The surface is a hard-wearing black vitreous enamel, but with a new smoothness.
Enamel has always had its own qualities for the easy release properties this brings to cooking, but this surface, with its developing patina, can bring the additional advantage of a good non-stick coating but without the fear of damage or peeling.'
Satin Black will keep looking good from the hob to the oven, the oven to the table and the table to the dishwasher.
