Amazon.co.uk Review Already a phenomenal success in the US, where it has sold over 25 million units, the George Foreman Baby Grill is a healthy alternative to conventional grilling. Whatever you grill, be it meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, seafood or even sandwiches, any excess fat or liquid is channelled into a collection tray at the front of the unit. Because the machine sandwiches the food between two grills, cooking time is reduced and spitting is practically non-existent. Operation is simple: simply plug it in and switch it on at the plug socket. The heat indicator light will go out when it is ready to use. The Baby Grill has enough room to cook two medium fish steaks. The grill also features a rather handy bun warmer that is accessed by lifting up the clear plastic cover on the lid of the grill. The instruction manual lists the different cooking times for different foods. If you're not too concerned about the amount of fat you eat in conventionally grilled foods, this grill may change your mind--the amount of fatty liquid collected in the drip tray from a quarter-pound burger with 92% meat content is unbelievable. Even though there is a large quantity of liquid in the tray, the burger itself remains very tasty and not at all dry. The grill comes with a grooved spatula that makes it easy to remove food from the grill as it fits perfectly between the grooves on the grill. Removable extension feet give the unit another half-inch clearance from the work surface, enabling foods such as tacos or pitta bread to be placed at the front for easy transfer of any grilled fillings. Cleaning the grill is a bit more time-consuming than cleaning a grill pan as you can't simply drop it in a bowl of soapy water and attack it with a scouring pad. It is very easy to clean though, as it has a non-stick coating: simply wipe it down with a damp cloth or kitchen paper. The George Foreman Baby Grill is a must for anyone who uses a grill on a regular basis. It will reduce your fat intake while allowing you to continue eating your favourite grilled foods. The Baby Grill may be a bit on the small side for some people, but a larger Junior version is also available. It's a knockout. --Ben Curtis

not long lasting July 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
13 months old and the nonstick is peeling. Friends also have this problem and only ever cleaned with a tissue. Will replace with a Tefal as they have a reputation to uphold
Don't know what I will do with out my flatmates one March 8, 2007 In the summer I am moving and will leave behind my flatmate and her George Foreman. I don't know what I will do, accept perhaps go and buy my own. Its that good even my mum is off to buy one.
I havent found it hard to clean. As soon as I am done I wipe it down with hot soapy water. I find the dirt comes off easy while its still warm.
I've made some great food with it. Tuna and cheese pitta bread melts are one of my frav things to do with it. I also make some great homemade burgers with it, and the best thing is it keeps them together really well as you dont need to turn them over.
This product makes cooking easy and healthy.
Dry food is always the healthiest January 23, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Firstly (and I'm not trying to cause friction here), just how is the previous reviewer managing to put the entire grill in the sink? It's an electrical devise! Anyway, it's easy to clean; a bit of elbow grease is all that's needed! I use babywipes to clean mine and then I give it a once-over with soapy water before rinsing and drying it. I advise that anyone who uses this grill should clean it after every use; it WILL smell and it WILL affect the taste of every meal that's cooked on it afterwards.
I'll agree that toasted buns are far tastier than warmed buns, but then it is just a warmer (on top of the grill); it doesn't present itself as anything else.
The grill only becomes a superfluous gadget if it's not used! The grill comes with a make-do recipe book, so one shouldn't have to wonder what to use the grill for. I've used mine to cook chicken, burgers, vegetables, steak, and much more besides. So really, it's up to you whether it becomes value for money or not.
Unfortunately, the healthiness of the food (i.e. its dryness) takes away from the food's taste. That is, a fried burger tastes much better than a grille burger. But then, the fact that so many of us prefer burgers with the fat running out of the meat and onto our chins is a conflict that WE have to deal with. Fact is, if you like your food to be quite moist, you can always marinade it or, if you're really picky/desperate, you can pour the collected fat back onto the food!
My only 'beef' with it is that it has George Foreman's name on it. He didn't invent it. 'I liked it so much I put my name on it!' - not quite; he put his name on it because he was the only 'star' willing to do so. And the money helped persuade him, I'm sure.
But all in all, it's a great little gadget. One does have to consider if it will be used often enough to justify the price. After all, twenty quid or so is alot of money just to use an item once and realise that you don't actually like it. My advice is to visit the Foreman website and check out the online recipes; if you like the look of the food on 'offer', it may be for you.
Pain to clean! June 30, 2004 13 out of 25 found this review helpful
Ok, it grills ok, but this is a real pain to clean up. It doesn't come apart, so you have to stick the enite thing in the sink and scrub it. It only fit's two small burgers at a time, and if you are cooking a cheese burger, you can't close it again. Now it's just another gadget taking up room in my kitchen. The clear lid is simply stupid. I want to toast my buns, not warm them. My recommendation is to buy a good heavy grill pan instead, it's easier to clean and would perform the same job. It also takes up less room in the kitchen, and fit's in the dishwasher! Save your money!
Buns alive. It's a miniature kitchen miracle! January 17, 2004 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
My friend Nigel Gilbert recently bought a house with no kitchen, so to soften the blow I bought him the Baby Grill. It is amazing! Far from starving, he is eating like a king. This thing takes up the space of a MegaDrive but cooks a mean burger, while warming the bun as well. Wow! If you're low on kitchen space, this is the gadget for you.
