I've had one for 4 years, its ok, i'd give it 3 stars as it is still working.
However the other reviews highlight its drawbacks, hard to keep clean, poor water level indicator, lid hard to remove, dodgy thermostat & the casing being metal gets red hot its not "coolwall".
Its noisy & from day one the thermostat in mine has had a mind of its own, occaisonally knocks off early & if boiling a small amount of water somtimes it won't knock off itself.
Overall i can live with its little quirks, it looks nice & it is still going strong.
Does what it says on the tin, but nothing too special. December 22, 2007

Have owned this kettle for 3 or 4 years now and seems to still be working reasonably well. Bad points are that it firs up quite quickly even with water of medium hardness + lime is hard to shift from the element itself even with neat cheap vinegar. Thus effecting boil times. The filters are not worth a jot as they are so fragile I keep putting my fingers through them every time I try to clean them. The lid is a very tight fit making it hard to open for filling/cleaning.

Bought this without looking at the reviews below (silly me), is far noisier than normal kettle, poor design, not very good at all

Purchased to replace an identical kettle with which we had been very satisfied for 2-3 years. New kettle leaked intermittently; water kept appearing on base. Kettle swapped out, but replacement also leaked. Again swapped out, but no better. Telephoned Russell Hobs customer service who showed no interest but merely suggested that it be swapped out again. (NB the "leak" appeared to be linked to the auto cut-off mechanism tube which passes down the handle into the underside of the kettle.) Finally sent letter to Russell Hobs Customer Service but received neither acknowledgement nor reply. Eventually changed to a Breville (which is excellent in every respect). Pity that the Russell Hobs Quality Control and Customer service is so poor, as this kettle is very attractive and is easy to hold due to its soft handle and excellent balance. Also of note was the poor "brushed" finish. Our original was perfect, but two of these new kettles displayed stripes, one being particularly bad, again an example of poor quality control.

As a kettle, it works fine - we've had one for 3 weeks or so now. But the design of the lid is abysmal. The lid fits on quite firmly (not bad in itself), but the handle on top was clearly designed (or rather not designed) with aesthetics rather than function in mind. It's hard to get a good grip on, and as a result it often pops out of my fingers when trying to remove it from the kettle.
If I could return it to the shop with no hassle, then I would, as it fails the basic criteria for this sort of device: should just work, with no hassle.
