Amazon.co.uk Review No frills and no fuss, the 9255 Classic Sandwich Toaster from Russelll Hobbs makes classic toasted sandwiches. If you fancy a good old-fashioned cheese and ham toastie, this is just the machine to make it in style. The non-stick toasting plates are scooped out so you can get plenty of filling in there and the ridges seal the edges together and cut your toastie in half at the same time. The controls are very simple--one light to tell you the toaster is switched on and another to tell you it's hot enough to use. Heating doesn't take too long, so toasted sandwiches cook quickly. You don't have to stick to square bread with a filling; you can heat up rolls and pannini in here too. To seal and cut sandwiches you need to fasten the clip on the handle, but the weight of the lid means sandwiches still heat up quickly if you can't get the clip fastened or don't want to cut them while they're cooking. You can fit in two sandwiches at once, but there's no problem just cooking one. The chunky design means the toaster balances well when you open it and you can even stand it up on end to sit neatly on the work surface--showing off the gleaming chrome finish as well as taking up less space when you're not using it. The power cord emerges at either side of the base, depending on what keeps your work surface neater. There aren't any fancy options and extras; this is a simple, easy to use toaster that does just what it says on the box. --Mary Branscombe

Don't scrimp on a toastie maker. Buy one like this. November 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I almost feel cruel reviewing this toastie maker, as it's currently out of stock so telling you how brilliant it is will only serve to tease you. I recently moved into a new house, and so required something to make toasted sandwiches in. I popped to Tesco and grabbed the first thing I saw - a five pound, own brand cheerful little thing. At least, it looked cheerful. Slow to warm up, slower to cook and, wonderfully, after about twenty toasties the plates all fell off. So I looked for a replacement, and decided on this thanks to the evocative review below. I haven't made it to 20 yet, but I don't foresee any problems. Sturdily built, with a flat back so you can store it stood up (taking up less space) and with a pleasingly deep plate so you can cram your toastie full of whatever you like. Also, it's quick. A few minutes to heat up, four minutes under the heat and you're good to go. I'll never go back to cheap own-brand toastie makers again!
At last I have found a sandwich toaster that meets my needs March 1, 2007 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
As my old sandwich toaster had served its time and had lost its non stick I searched for a replacement but quickly found that the sandwich makers I looked at were very shallow and would not have coped with a half decent filling without spurging out in all directions. That in itself meant the machine took longer to clean than it took to make the toastie.
Not the case with this machine. Not only does it stand upright on my tiny kitchen counter so does not take up much space but with its chrome front it looks smart. The scalloped divisions inside allow for a decent filled sandwich which you can either have cut and sealed (by pressing the clip fully closed) or if you just want it sealed but not cut then the weight of the lid does the job and bliss.... there was no mess to clean up.
I am well pleased with this machine so it earns a good five stars in my estimation. A word also for Amazon as the machine was amazingly delivered the next day. With free postage I reckon that is pretty good. Thank you and well done Amazon and Russell Hobbs.
