5 out of 5 stars The future of baking is....well.....Orange - in the `flexible' form of Le Creuset Silicone Bake-ware!   April 10, 2007

Manufacturer's Description
'Made from 100% liquid silicone and is ideal for all types of oven baking and roasting, even microwaving - up to temperatures of 280C or down to -40C for chilling/freezing. No risk of thermal shock.'

Reputed to be far more hygienic than tin-ware - it does not absorb odours or flavours. Won't rust.
Retains shape and easy to store - difficult to lose in a dark corner due to the colour!
Simply washes up in hot, soapy water, or pop it in the dishwasher.

A new generation in bake-ware, it is true to say that it may take a bit of getting used to, but worth that little effort and a proper read of the instruction guide!
As previously commented, light greasing does help!

Amazon has a great range to choose from whether you want to turn out a loaf, a sponge, a flan or a Yorkshire pudding or pop out a mini muffin - do it with style and with considerable ease.

Release your baking with confidence as nothing sticks to `Le Creuset' silicone bake-ware!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant! Full marks from Le Creuset once again.   October 31, 2004

I have been a lifelong fan of all Le Creuset products but have never been totally convinced about their bakeware. I guess its because cast iron get so hot in the oven and I keep forgetting to adjust the cooker temparature accordingly.
I thought that I would test my faith in the company, so I bought a Le Creuset silicon loaf tin and the results were staggering. It did need a very light greasing as I was doing a low-fat Date and Walnut loaf, but the loaf kept its shape and I was able to handle the 'tin' without gloves within a couple of taking it out of the oven.
THe silicon is such a good conductor of heat that I was able to bake my loaf at 120C instead of 180C with the same results. It was a dream to clean (just a wipe with a cloth)
I have been curious about these products since they were released and I am now utter convinced that these are the best products for baking. I am ordering some more moulds straight away.

4 out of 5 stars Slightly misleading product description   March 8, 2004

This product is great - anything you put in it releases from the non stick surface very easily, with straight sharp edges that you don't get from a tin.

However what isn't mentioned until you read the accompanying instruction leaflet is that you *do* need to lightly grease the moulds for mixtures with low fat content (it cites sponge mixture as being one such mixture.) Since most people will probably buy these with a view to baking cakes, it's useful to know that in advance. Personally I thought silicone would mean no more greasing, so I was annoyed when I found out that wasn't strictly true!

They are very versatile - this particular shape can be used for pates and terrines and mousses (anything sliceable) as well as loaf cakes.

Hope that's helpful.
