As somebody who has bought so many items for the kitchen and then ended up allowing them to collect dust due to non-use because they were the in thing at the time. I was a little dubious about purchasing yet another gadget which after a few months will get binned because I cant be asked to spend ages cleaning the damn thing after use.(I dont mind spending ages preparing the food, but cleaning???)
Well flatten my feet and call me Daffy This must be one of the easiest things to clean. I usually wash down the whole thing in minutes prior to eating. On that alone Im sold. Ill let the other reviewers inform you about how good it cooks.

It does the job well but I do have reservations about the plastic parts in the steamer, they do feel a bit 'fragile' and I do worry that they might crack or snap if too much pressure is applied; for instance affixing the bases to the tiers, it does take a bit of 'fiddling'! It's ok otherwise and does do the job for which it is designed. I'd have reservations about cooking strong flavours ie smoked fish but then I'd have to give it a go and see. It cooks cous cous like a dream though and I can't wait to try rice!! I have since bought a stainless steel 3 tier steamer as well just to be on the safe side!! It's a good little gadget for the money and good value. Tefal is a brand I still feel I can trust.

Agree with all the other positive reviews. And they were the reason I bought it. But after 2 weeks the timer stopped working so will be returning for a refund.

This was my 1st steamer, bought 18 months ago, this model probably has a different model number but for the purpose of this review, its pretty much the same. It has revolutionised my ideas of veg! They are now packed with flavour and beautifully cooked. The leaflet included gives times for popular veggies and the timings are spot on. Fish is moist, rice fluffy, potatoes perfect. Also, it's great if your timings of meals isn't great (mine's hit and miss) - you can always steam to time, switch it off then give it a blast of steam for a couple of minutes before serving without the food stewing to a pulp.
The only reason I haven't given this a 5 star rating is the cost of replacement parts. My steamer has had plenty of use but after about a year, the handle on the lid came off, next one of the 'tabs' on the shelves vanished, now the bottom basket is quite cracked and lets some steam out. To replace these 3 parts will cost approx. 30! Cheaper to send the old one to landfill and buy a new one which is a shame.
This said, the steamer is easy to use, easy to clean and VERY easy to store so I will definitely be buying a new one soon (and putting the old one in the loft for spares).

After buying this item, I must say that it did make a difference in our kitchen: it cooks the fish beautifully (tasty!) and the rice is what it should be, ie nice and fluffy (as opposed to soggy). Vegetables are just great. In the end, I just clean the bowl and wipe the trays, easy peasy. A highly recommended purchase!
