3 out of 5 stars Clever prototype but needs improving   May 17, 2008
great concept but a few tweaks would make it outstanding.
1) Slightly hotter water option would be good.
2) Lose the black button, I have no use for room temperature filtered water.
3) Do not dispense until water is hot. The first 3 seconds worth of water cools the whole cup so I throw it away, this negates environmental savings
4) Non drip spout. The time saved in making a drink is lost by having to wipe the worktop every time,I suppose I could wait for it to stop dripping but my 10 kettle does nt drip!
5) Less noisey would be nice, It is noisier than a kettle.
Having said all this, I love it and would nt hesitate to buy another should this one break, if a mk 2 is released I would buy it without question.

4 out of 5 stars It certainly has its place   May 15, 2008
I must admit to being dubious about this kettle before I bought it as I couldn't see how I could get my lovley cup of coffee in 3 seconds. But it's true, I can. It's also true that it does make abit of a racket when dispensing the water, but after a few seconds it's all done.

Positives:
The reason I like this product and say that it certainly has its place, is because I work from home alot and when I feel the need for a quick cuppa and I am in the middle of something I don't have to stand around waiting for a kettle to boil - I'm downstairs and back up to my office again within one minute which is perfect. It's also great, if I'm in a rush in a morning or grabbing a quick cuppa before settling down to watch a TV programme or something.

Negatives: The water is not piping hot (but could be viewed as a bonus if you just want to grab a quick coffee and down it while getting ready for work). To be honest, I tend to use it to make coffee with but, as some other reviewers have said, it's not the greatest for making tea.

All in all, it is a fairly pricey peice of equipment but I think for those in a hurry or home-workers it definatley has its uses and for this reason I like it and that's why I have given it 4 stars.

4 out of 5 stars It's quick   May 12, 2008
My friend has one of these and I really like using it, it's quick and easy and for larger mugs, you just press the button again and a third time to stop when its full. It isn't boiling water but that just means you can drink it straight away. And problems with effectively making a cup of tea, just keep stirring as the water is coming out so that it properly 'infuses'.

2 out of 5 stars Poor heat   May 10, 2008
I am very disappointed in this product, they are correct in saying that one gets HOT water but it falls short of the heat required for most hot drink making like tea or hot chocolate. I think that Tefal need to go back to the drawing board.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for a quick cuppa!   May 7, 2008

I think the Tefal Quick Cup is excellent. Yes water drips out in spurts rather than a constant stream - and yes there is the occasional 'spit' - but nothing particularly concerning. I find the temperature of the coffee/tea to be boiling and comparable to a normal kettle. There is also an option to dispense cold (well room temperature) filtered water as well. Overall if you don't like watching a kettle boil - this is the perfect solution.
