Super introduction October 14, 2005 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
An excellent fun way to learn a new and rather alien language. Well there is hardly any grammar or classroom type learning. It consists of pictures and the Bulgarian words for them, plus some quizzes to see if you remember which was which. You learn by side effect and learn the pronunciation in a painless way. Audio first, text later, grammar never. Even my 6-year old thought it was superb and took to it like a duck to water. And VFM too. There is a speech feedback bit (require microphone) which I didn't bother with as I didn't feel the need.

I have found the Talk Now CD extremely useful and enjoyable to use. When I started using it, I was unable to speak or understand the language at all. The language pronunciation is good, and I found it really easy to learn. The quizzes are great fun. I have used the CD in conjunction with a phrase and grammar book, and have picked up sufficient language skills to make myself understood. Having recently returned from Bulgaria, I was thrilled at how easy it was to speak to people in their own language, and I would definitely recommend using Talk Now.
Learn the easy way August 18, 2005 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I thought that learning a difficult language like Bulgarian would be a nightmare, How Wrong!.This CD makes it easy and fun, It can take a few days to get used to the accents of the native speakers on the CD but I found that by concentrating on only one of the two speakers I was able to get to grips with the pronunciation. Only one gripe is that the speakers speak very quickly, I would have liked to see a slowed down version or the words spelled out phonetically in the dictionary. Apart from that I am surprised at how quickly I am learning from using the software for less than an hour a day.
Easy first step to learning Bulgarian May 31, 2004 81 out of 83 found this review helpful
This interactive CD-Rom 'does exactly as it says on the packet'. You are able to repeat the phrases and record them , although you need a headset, then your words are compared to the native Bulgarian speakers. This can be quite a giggle when you play it back! The speakers are slow and concise, making it easier to break down the words into syllables when practicing. There are sections for useful phrases, telling the time, food, shopping and more. There are quizes for each section at different levels so you can test yourself and if you get it wrong don't think you can just gloss over it; this software remembers and will ask you again next time! You can also print all of the material out so that you can practice from this when you can't access a PC. I'm past this stage now but this CD Rom really helped me to get to grips with the pronounciation when I started - there are even male and female voices so you can follow a similar sound to your own voice.
