Adequate language learning software April 30, 2002

The price has dropped on this item; however, I purchased it at the full price.
My main criticisms are:
Not a thorough enough explanation of the grammar. Expert linguists have produced the grammar used with this program, so why couldn't they make it more understandable and less boring?
Not interactive enough: a few crosswords and such, but for this price I was expecting something far more colorful and entertaining.
Verbs: I would've liked an intensive Italian Verb Tutorial, complete with extremely thorough and concise explanations (not something I access through a word, but something I can interact with in an entertaining way).
Having said that, this item gets three stars for giving you simple sentences that you can remember easily: for example, 'la settimana ha sette giorni,' "The week has seven days," translated literally.
Another very useful feature is that you can click on any given word for an explanation and its grammar. Sentences are quite educational to use, but when it comes to paragraphs and the stories this software offers, the Italian looks like gibberish. This is because Italian is worded so differently from English, and so is not the fault of the software producers, but its main failing point is user interactivity, especially regarding the grammar.
I recommend this title for anyone who would like to look up Italian words and their relation to other parts of a sentence, as well as anyone who wants to learn basic Italian sentences. If you can perservere with this program, I'm sure you'll learn a lot. But my message to the makers of this software is 'For God's sake, make it more fun next time!'
