Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for vocabulary building!   January 10, 2008
I want to address a couple of comments left by other reviewers.

First, to the guy who said advanced students wouldn't use flashcards - BS! OK, granted, they might not be studying words like "frog," but you're missing the point. The real power of this software lies not in the included lists, but in the ability to create your own, complete with pictures, sound, and notes/examples (if you want). I also love the fact that you can print the cards you make, in a variety of formats.

Second, in response to the complaint that this is only good for learning vocabulary: well, of course! It's a flashcard program. No, it doesn't teach grammar. It wasn't designed to do that, and it doesn't claim to. There are plenty of books and programs out there designed to give you a grasp on grammar. This software is strictly for learning vocab, although you do have the ability to provide context for words by including example sentences on the cards (an almost essential element, really, for prepositions and quirky colloquial phrases).

I highly recommend this combo, especially considering the price. You'd be lucky to find the individual languages separately for $20 each.

4 out of 5 stars One of the best memorization products around.   February 25, 2007

This product is by far the best way I've come across of committing things to memory. However that is all it is useful for, there is no help with Grammar etc... So this is the perfect product to use when learning a language but you will need some other reference point as well.

2 out of 5 stars Fun   August 13, 2005

There really is not much point in buying this software unless you want an excercise purely in memoring vocabulary. At first it is very impressive, but if you want to use a language, and understand how you are using it, allowing you to communicate effectively, it is useless. Unfortunately this is another language product purporting to provide a 'fun' and easy way to learn a language, with a picture on the front of smiling people having perfected their language skills through the method of this unique product. Despite this, it is fun, and is probably a good intro for children and those with no idea how much work they have ahead of them to master a language. Lastly, I wouldn't sound so snobbish and annoyed if the word 'advanced' was not on the box. People who have an advanced knowledge of a language don't mess about with flash cards with 'cockroach' or 'frog' on them!

4 out of 5 stars Great fun for the kids   August 2, 2005

This package is never going to teach you to 'speak' any language but its a great tool to increase your vocabulary. It is just what it says on the box - flash cards; and the kids have fun racing each other, as I have 2 teens learning French & Italian. This package is not as powerful as the single language version which has voice comparision test. Download the freebie version to get a feel of it but at this price it is a good deal.

2 out of 5 stars Spanish - which variety?   May 22, 2004

At first use a good product, well structured and very logical to use.
The one serious weakness is - the Spanish is not mainland Spanish, it is probably South American or possibly Catalan orientated.
This you do not know till you use it.
We have not tried the other languages as we wanted Spanish primarily.
