Before Confessions, Before Hung Up, before the glitter and glam of Music and way before Kylie put on her gold Hot pants, Madonna flirted with disco and gave us one of her campest videos to date. The single was released from the album Erotica in a phase many now refer to as the Sex book era (the naughty book she released that shoved two fingers up at the establishment). It was released in late 1992 as a welcome break to all the controversy surrounding the Sex book, Erotica album and single video. Its classic Madonna, in it she plays a character called Dita who revels the night away on the town in gay clubs of L.A. The video was directed by Bobbi Woods, himself an established gay porno director from the late 1970's. Look closely and you will find a miriad of uber cool stars of the time from L.A.'s underground gay scene and sub culture, Falcon porn producer/drag queen Chi Chi La Rue, Francis Ford Coppolla's daughter and german 1970's actor Udel Keir all make an appearance, very much of its time the single bounces along and not only pays homage to the classic 70's disco era but refers to her own maga hit Vogue, citing a famous verse from the song midway toward the end. The remixes are pretty good too with only the David Morales Club mix standing the test of time, amazing actually. All in all its a classic Madonna dance tune especially loved by the gay men and women whom revelled to this tune way back in 1992. One of her best videos to boot and proof that Kylie really did take a big leaf out of Madonna's disco/camp roots.

This song was released in Madge's Sex era hence the sleazy cover. But the song sounds much earlier than the 90's - it's classic disco complete with castanets, spanish guitar and echos of Vogue. It builds from a forgetable song to a huge disco stomper - turn it up!
