Well, Remixed & Revisited got released after the commercial flop that was American Life in an attempt rescue Madonna somewhat. The remixes are good, although I think a studio recorded version of the MTV performance would have been loads better, because Britney is out sung by Xtina. It seems that Madonna may be heading in a rock direction, what with some good rock remixes here and Your Honesty is a good track too. Something that is debatable here is the Gap ad song, in places it sounds like there's 3 people singing the song, an 80s era Madge, Missy and the Madge of the Noughties. It does sound a little slaughtered compared to the fabulous 'Into The Groove' and it doesn't really sound right on an audio version.
This could have been made better on a DVD audio release, with the MTVVMA performance and the Gap ads as a visual backdrop to the music.

Not one to stay out of the spotlight for too long, Madonna returns with "Remixed and Revisited," an odds-and-ends collection of remixes and throwaway tracks that spells "holiday cash in" on its face. Instead of giving us the usual disco-flavored grooves, Madonna goes rock on us, as featured on remixes of "American Life" and "Love Profusion." It must be said that neither of these cuts are very good to begin with, and the rock makeovers they receive don't make them any more interesting. The EP's main bright spot is the live medley of "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood" featuring Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Missy Elliot. By now, we're all familiar with the lesploitation kiss Madonna made with Britney and Christina, but the musical performance itself is quite fun--or at least half of it. Britney's underdeveloped voice literally gets dwarfed by Aguilera who sings with soulful authority. It's a cute performance that unfortunately cruises on autopilot when the song morphs into "Hollywood," another not-so-great track from the disappointing "American Life" album. "Remixed and Revisited" will attract diehard Madonna fans like myself who need to get EVERYTHING the Material Girl releases. But for the uninitiated, there's nothing here to win any converts.

For Madonna fans 'Remixed and Revisited' is a very nice treat indeed. The remixes here are all amazing! 'Love Profusion' and 'American Life' are given heavy rock makeovers and give a surprisingly good effect on 'American Life' and is actually better than the original version.
The remix of 'Nobody Knows Me' brings back the best of 80's electro pop and cements itself into place with one of 'American Life's standout tracks. As for the other tracks, they're pretty dull and bring nothing to the collection. Ok, the VMA performance was a CLASSIC musical moment yes but it falls flat when just audio. The Gap advert, then the Gap advert is just something to fill some space and the unreleased out take is just boring. Madonna should have released a 'Headcleanr Mix' EP, those rock mixes are brilliant! But to be honest, this EP isn't really essential unless you're a big Madonna fan.

I LOVE this remix cd.
The mixes are not what you would expect, and I like that.
They are new, unexpected, but maintain the integrity of the original tracks.Nothing Fails - one of American Lifes stand-out trax a beautiful ballad, has been sped up slightly, given some beats, made to sound a little 'harder', and had the choir removed by supremo DJ/Remix Jason Nevins. Its a new version, and one I now prefer to the original. Love Profusion - This should have been American Lifes first single (though it is the current one for Christmas). Its such a beautiful track, Madonnas strongest single of A/Life without a doubt. This remix however, has turned it into a rock track!!! And it REALLY works!!! Unexpected and keeps the beauty of the original. Nobody Knows Me - AL's dance track.. This has been given a retro, electro remix, and its great. Harder than the original, with some more subtle vocal effects. American Life - One of those you either like or hate tracks, people divided in opinion because of the rap. Understood... however this rocks!!! Its more Metallica than Madonna - I kid you not!!! A metal mix??? And you would think that the rap would have been removed? Well you'd be wrong. It forms the basis of the mix!!! And the 'Headcleaners' have made it sound cool!!! (Honest!) Typical of Madonna - you didnt like my rap - well here it is, double fold!!! Like a Virgin / Hollywood (live) - The classic and controversial performance from this years MTV awards, with Christina, Britney and Missy all performing, mixing Like A Virgin with the Jacque Le Cont remix of Hollywood (excellent remix), and also Missy's 'Work it'. Brilliant!!! Into the Hollywood Groove - the 2nd of Missy's appearances on this cd, this is the 87 remix of Into the Groove (though resung in parts), mixed with resung parts of Hollywood, and also the Missy rap from the Gap jeans. If it works, ya better work it!!! and it does... Your Honesty - An unreleased track from Madonna's Bedtime Stories album sessions. And in my opinion, its better than half the tracks on that original album. Beautiful vocals, though the song is slightly marred by a poor lyric (i can make love to your voice). This is a must for lovers of Madonnas much overlooked American Life album (though it was a No1), and essential to any Madonna fans collection. This is what remixes should do - bring something completely new but without ruining the original song! Kudos to ALL involved!!!
