5 out of 5 stars The long-awaited final release from Fox!   July 22, 2008

This was the third and final album release from 'Fox' before they split in 1977.

'Fox' were one of the most inspiring new groups to come out of the 70s that hinted at becoming much bigger than they actually were. They had a unique and unmistakable sound that was instantly recognisable - utilising the distinctive vocal talents of Miss 'Noosha' Fox.

This Album opens with the title track which is a good example of their better material. This is a somewhat 'catchier' collection of songs than its predecessor 'Tails Of Illusions', and as a result, produced a further hit for the group with the groovy single 'S-S-S-Single Bed'. This was unusual, in that the song ended abruptly which was at a time when most pop singles were to 'fade out'.

There are one or two haunting and unforgettable melodies on this; 'Dejenina', and the beautiful 'Moustaches On The Moon' - the latter which may have been a better choice for a follow-up single than the one that was finally used that did not chart: 'My Old Man's Away'. I suspect the failure of this single had much to do with the un-original title, and the confusion that ensued with a completely different song altogether. In fact the flip side to this would have been a much wiser choice; 'Are You Sure', and would probably have given them another chart hit under their belt. Oddly, this track was never featured on a 'Fox' album release, and does not appear on any of the three CD re-issues of their work as a 'bonus' track - despite these including some of their most rare recordings!

The original vinyl came with some inspiring cover artwork, and included a 'free' collectable poster with lyrics on the reverse.

4 out of 5 stars Chill Out .. If You want to .. this is What You Need...   February 18, 2008
Of the Three Fox albums this one the Last of the "Holy Trinity" is not the one that 1st Grabs you... Not the Pop driven Catchiness of the earlier Material... No Its a Bit deeper and Requires the listner to be in a total relaxed Frame of Mind... Its a Album that is more about "Noosha" as she swoons at you through the Speakers... Ive got Vinyl and this Release and the Sound Issues ive never had a problem with.. 1st thing you notice is that the Hit Single is promoted to TK1 probably as a afterthought.. It works better as well IMO... Its easily the Poppiest Song off the Album... The Main Highlight of the Album is a Song called "Moustaches on the Moon" ... Nooshas Performance is Outstanding on it and really It should of been a Massive Hit.. the Main Mystery I guess is why after three Fantastic Albums why it Stopped as the Creative Juices were Still flowing ... Only thing Id like to of Seen was a "Noosha" penned Song on the Final Album to compliment Kenny Youngs Brilliant Songwriting and Production...By the Way the Bonus TK is not Really what You Buy this Album For... Its another in the 2nd Album Bonus Mould which was sort of a Bad Idea...

1 out of 5 stars 2 years wait and still no Silk Milk   March 4, 2007

This final release doesnt have the B side of S-S-S-Single Bed namely Silk Milk on it...Instead some early 90s extra track that if judging by the extra tracks put on the Tails of Illusion album in 2004 is not going to be worth the wait... Disappointed? Very!!

1 out of 5 stars Great Album-Sounds BAD!   February 17, 2007

Firstly, I have to say that this is a great album. Fox are, and were then, greatly overlooked. Their first album remains a triumph by any standards. If the follow-up 'Tails of Illusion' was a bit more hit and miss, this the third and final album was definately a return to form.
BUT : DO NOT buy this cd if you are expecting the pristine sound quality of the first two releases.
This is merely a copy from vinyl. You can hear the scratches! Years ago, I copied my original vinyl album to cd and it sounds much better than this.
Maybe I should not be surprised as 'Georgina Bailey', one of the extras on a previous release was actually transferred from the soundtrack of a tv show and 'Pretty Boy', was transfered from the b-side of the vinyl release. I assumed this to mean that the original masters had been lost. However this can not be excused here, as digital master transfers of some this album's tracks were used on the 'Best of Fox' cd of some years back.
I was also disappointed at the sleave notes. They comprise almost solely of the reviews that the first cd received on AMAZON! Somehow I think they will not want to use reviews for this cd in the same way! Also, there's absolutely no imformation about the unreleased bonus track.
Oh yes, and all the tracks are in the wrong order.

It's great to finally have this Fox album available again - but be aware that the audio quality on this is pretty awful. Of course it was recorded about 30 years ago so we can't expect pristine digital audio perfection, however this CD sounds like it's been made from a copy of the original vinyl album - complete with scratches, pops, wow & flutter and sibilance (remember them?). It might help the nostalgia effect but it's a bit disappointing when Cherry Red did such a good job of transferring the previous two Fox gems.
