Not the best but still great value June 27, 2008 It would be stupid to review all 42 songs - so here goes! Andorra - perfect for a mobile phone ad, think Busted. Albania -ethnic and dramatic. Nice rhythms. Armenia - very pleasant ballad. Austria - another mobile phone advert song. Bosnia - instantly forgettable ballad seemingly about Croatia. Belgium - memorable discofunk. Bulgaria - drums and wailing and very original. Belarus - Fantastically over the top, discordant intro and great singing. Switzerland - standard Europop about vampires with an awful ending. Cyprus - harder edged Europop bizarrely in French. Czech Rep - tuneless heavy metal with a voice like gravel. Germany - big band swing. Denmark - transvestite technobeat. Estonia -girl rock. Spain - the same song Spain does every year. Finland - a hit for Avril Lavigne. France - very French, comic, awful. Georgia - highly original, evolving from ethnic to techno. Interesting. UK - unlistenable. Greece - The usual Greek entry but catchy nevertheless. Croatia - soft, soulful duet. Not very good though. Hungary - fantastically well sung blues. One of the highlights. Ireland - usual diddly rubbish. Israel - comic, memorable and constantly changing. Iceland - brilliant over the top power ballad. Lithuania - gentle latino rhythms. Latvia - poor man's Il Divo. Moldova - string quartet and rock. Montenegro - driving rock. Macedonia - sounds identical to last year's but less tuneful. Malta - rock waltz. Rather good. Netherlands - a hit for Anastacia. Norway - latino sung in Spanish. Poland - hilariously cheesy hip hop destroyed by changing into triplet time for the chorus. Portugal - very similar to the Norwegian one but with a very catchy brass part. Romania - the 5 different languages doesn't stop it being boring. Serbia - the winner but why? One of the more forgettable tracks. Russia - a hit for Girls Aloud which falls apart when the solo turns into just sound effects. Sweden - a brilliant glam rock pastiche which sounds instantly familiar. Another highlight. Slovenia - operatic and way beyond over the top. Turkey - a great dance record. Ukraine - the 2nd transvestite and very boring high speed accordion based technobeat.
This is not the best Eurovision album - probably the Athens one was the epitome - but certainly there are plenty of good tracks but the best need a couple of listens.
How about 1 eurovision every month? June 29, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful

Super Gran Coleccion de Ritmos de Europa May 28, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Europe & The Art Of Musical Back Scratching. May 27, 2007 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
To anyone who thinks the Euro song contest is a straight and honourable sing song with a bit of smiley love for thigh Euro neighbour is gravely mistaken. It's a joke a big musical joke, and the joke is on us. When the song (or country) wins they come out with the most outlandish comments, for instance the lead singer in the 2007 happens to be the opposite to heterosexual so they claim this is a "great" step forward to accepting gays. Also it will unite a country treated as social leper since the Balkans war (serbia)I'm afraid Marija ERIFOVI from Serbia will (and will lay money on it)fade as the year ends. If you think I am being biased I'm not, Englands entry was CRAP and DESERVED to lose it's a shame we actually got some points as I believe this would make us slip in some credible talent, but credible is not what Eurovision is about. France and Sweden were the best I believe on the night, though thats my humble opinion. Anyways I enjoyed this years Eurovision it was infact the first I have watched in 20 years as It got dull and boring a while back, but they seem to have re-vamped it, and it was good entertainment and boy did I laugh at some of the entrants outrageous, outlandish songs and costumes, great fun and that is how you should treat it..........as comedy. though I would like for once to see countries that continually give their points to kiss ass banned. I think their should be a soccer style ref who blows the whistle and then shows the red card to the offending country and then send them packing. For this cd I would say around 8 of the songs on this cd are ok. Enjoy!
With 42 songs, about one-third are great!! more than worth the purchase May 21, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've listened a few times through and the highlights are for sure: Armenia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Switzerland, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine
Getting this CD is a great way of hearing all the sounds of Europe. The songs are great and not at all cheesy like people make out - and a welcome break from the same kak that I hear on the radio all the time.
