Stable and comfrotable sport head phones with excellent sound !! September 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've have been trying to find a pair of headphones suited for use when running. I have tried JVC, SONY, KOSS among other. My requirements are;
- Comfort - Hassle free use; fed up of headphones becoming dislodged !! - Convenient cord design - Sound quality
The PMX70 fit the bill perfectly and I couldn't fault them.
The neckband design is flawless and ensures that the sound is delivered comfortably into my ears whilst prohibiting them to become dislodged.
Quality seems fine. I think they will last if stored carefully. The cord isn't that thin Sony rubbery stuff that begins to peel away after a while.
The cord design has been well thought out. These use a single chord (YEY!!). The chord exits the headset just below one of the ear pieces which can then be fed conveniently into the neck of your t-shirt. Sennheiser also provide a clever little clip which secures the cord to your t-shirt whilst allowing a little slack for head movement. Cord strain is minimised. As a runner this was a well received by me. Previous headphones I have tried would dislodge from snagging on my t-shirt or if I turned my head slightly. This clever little clip solves this problem as well as reduces strain. THANK YOU SENNHEISER!
Cord length is ample and it terminates in a right-angled 3.5mm stereo plug. The plug is not gold plated but I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference if it were.
From my needs, sound quality is not as important for a pair of headphones I want to use purely for exercise. In this respect I wasn't expecting anything special. However, I am really impressed with the PMX70s. I expected them to be slightly harsh and lacking bass, however the EQ is extremely balanced and bass is plentiful but not overpowering. I do not have to put my MP3 player on full as I did with other (more expensive!) headphones.
Not sure whether noise cancellation was a consideration in the design but this is not important to me. I have road tested these and I did not find noise a problem at all.
The green colour seems to be an issue with some reviewers (and my wife apparently!!). I agree that black is more neutral but the green is not that offensive. This shouldn't be a deal breaker for most people, especially considering the great design and sound.
Overall, I recommend these to all who want music while they exercise. They are excellent value for money considering their features against a price point of 16 (ish).
Comfy even with small ears! September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After searching the site for running headphones and reading many reviews I decided to take the risk and buy these headphones and they have been so worth it. They are really comfy - and i have small ears which was the problem with many headphones, give them a chance though as it did take me 3/4 runs to get use to them. I find the sound great for running but i am no music expert and my main criteria was comfort and for them to stay in and they do both of them great. I only tend to run for up to a 1hr max a couple of times a week, and after 3months they are still working great - but they may not last so long if used more regularly... but i would say they are definately worth if you just want headphones that dont fall out!
Finally headphones that fit September 4, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been through so many headphones to try and get some that stay in my ears when I am running and are comfortable. I have small ears so have struggled, but these are brilliant - great sound, comfortable - perfect for running.
Fine at first, but wear out very quickly. August 31, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had a set of these for around three months and have used them for maybe five hours a week. I was delighted with them at first. They produced very good sound, were comfortable and, crucially, stayed put - very important when you're dogwalking and need your hands free for handling a large dog, as is the case with me.
However, it's been necessary to deploy the supplied extra earpads already, as the first set have worn out, and a crack has appeared in the outer cable sleeve near the earpiece, exposing the inner cables. This is very poor performance, given that the earphones have not been subject to anything approaching poor treatment in their short life.
Suffice it to say that I will not be buying another set.
Excellent headset August 25, 2008 The headset sits nicely, and there is a high degree of comfort. They did feel tight at first but not painfully. Sound quality for rock, pop, spoken and classical is very good!
What impresses me is that there is virtually no sound bleed. I handed the set to a friend to hear a track whilst sitting opposite me on the train and he turned up the Zen to full volume and I couldn't hear any noise from them.
I have a full sized pair of Sennheiser cans: Sennheiser eH150 Evolution Closed Headphone and there is sound bleed from these, but then they keep outside noise where it should be.
Highly recommended
