2 out of 5 stars Look before you leap...   August 10, 2008

I wouldn't recommend this product at all. The bass is far too prominent even when the Ipod bass reducer is on. I can't enjoy listening to my music through these speakers because of this. It creates such a horrible bassy wash over all my favourite songs that actually gives me headaches.
It's big and it's heavy also. Not really a bad thing but potential buyers should be aware that it's not really the kind of thing you'd throw in your suitcase when going away.
The other irritating thing is the minimum volume level. It is still pretty loud. It's almost as though with one press of the - button the volume skips from a 5 to a 0.
Given the choice I would have looked elsewhere. I am now looking for new speakers but am not going to buy anything until I have tested it and I would encourage everyone to do the same (even if they are on special offer). Try before you buy.

4 out of 5 stars Steady on folks, some bad points too   August 8, 2008

This is the best sounding dock available in my view (for more enthusing about how great this sounds see the other reviews). BUT you should be aware of some bad points too. This unit is not compatible with any iPod alarm clock function. When there's no music going into it the iGroove automatically shuts down after ten minutes so you can't use the iPod alarm with the 3.5mm jack either. With the iPod docked there is no low volume on this thing! Only VERY LOUD, loud, normal, fairly quiet and OFF. To get quiet music (for, say, reading in bed at night) you have to use the 3.5mm jack and use the iPod volue separately to turn it down. It seems the vast majority of the 100 goes into making it sound good at normal volume, which it does very well. The gloss coating is also very nice, it's a real coating not just shiny black plastic. Clearly not worth five stars because it is not fully compatible with iPods (no skip track or menu on the remote, no alarm compatibility) despite being 'designed for iPod'.

5 out of 5 stars Great, excellent bit of kit!   August 8, 2008

This is a great piece of kit. I agree with all the positive reviews, of which there are many. The unit feels heavy and solid, a doddle to set up. The instructions are little more than plug in, switch on..but thats because thats all there is to do. Sounds great. Decided to replace my hifi with this, as my wife was fed up of having piles of cd's lying on the floor, so am in the process of putting my entire cd collection on my 80gb IPod, so I will have all my music sitting in a nice tidy unit. As with others, the only gripe and a minor one at that, is the remote. All you can really do is change the volume, but who cares when the rest of the package is this good. If your swithering...buy it.

1 out of 5 stars 3rd Gen Ipod Nano   August 6, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

If you want to use this product with a 3rd Generation iPod Nano you might want to think again, yes Amazon says it works with 3G Nanos but there is no matching carrier so the nano is not held securely and worst of all you cannot use the click wheel as the bottom half is covered by the iGrove case.
I decided to keep the iGroove as the sound is good as is the price and have fabricated a holder for the nano. And if you only use paylists you don't need to operate the nano's click wheel.
If you want to use the click wheel then buy a different product.

5 out of 5 stars As it says on the tin   July 31, 2008

Out of the box, didn't bother with the manual, very pleased with the results. I was set on the BOSE but am delighted with the sound quality.
