The best expresso I've had April 20, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wanted to make expressos but didn't like the idea of a full-on electric one for many reasons; cost, size and cleaning hassel. This little device is perfect. Simple to use, simple to clean and makes the best expresso I've had.
My preference is for a latte. I fill the Bialetti Moka to just above the mark, heat 250ml of milk then add 100ml (2 expressos - one third yeild) of expresso. Perect. The rest I make into "White Americanos" by adding boild water and a little milk - it doesn't matter if the expresso has cooled by then.
Read the other reviews; I buy finely ground coffee (Percol Fairtrade Espresso Organic Coffee from Ocado) and compress it just a bit. One can change the strength of the final product by altering the amount of coffee and how compressed it is in the filter goody.
Great but doesn't make 2 mugs of coffee March 15, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I use this to make 'long' coffee, not espresso. It works really well - no complaints about the coffee quality. The only problem is the size. There's nothing about capacity in the product details, so I bought this one based on an earlier review saying it makes 2 mugs of long coffee. Well ... not with the mugs in our house! (And I'd say our mugs are pretty standard size). I wish I'd bought the next size up.
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. February 6, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Not the coffee- the coffee I make using this pot is great. It's straightforward to use and, as another reviewer said, unpretentious. It makes...coffee. No flashing lights, no capsules that seal in the flavour, just makes coffee. It takes some skill to get it right but I appreciate that, I need to learn how to reap the rewards. The thing that has me bamboozled is the fuzz that forms on the inside of the bottom reservoir upon cleaning. I clean and dry it, remove all soap and hard water. Leave it to drain completely then dry it completely. Yet there is always white fuzz accumulated by the next time I go to use it. The fuzz doesn't seem to have any consequence for the quality of the coffee. It's just a little worrying and there was nothing in the instructions about it. I hope it's not a dangerous metal oxide. Oh well, the coffee is goooood.
coffee.........!!!!!!!!!!! December 13, 2007 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
i've had one of these for about 5 years it has never let me down. i use it every morning before work, even if it makes me late!! if you like coffee, but cant bear to drink instant, GET ONE.
it does take a bit of practice to get the coffee just as you might like it, but the trail and error process is well worth it.
Good espresso machine December 10, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am very happy with this espresso stove-top little machine, it works well every time I use it, highly recommended.
