It's made itself indispensible November 21, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I love this steamer. It's been used every day since it arrived and I now wonder how I ever got along in the kitchen without it.
In case anyone is wondering whether this unit comes with a rice bowl (like the other Russell Hobbs model available from Amazon) I can confirm that it does. It works great, too, so no more black-bottomed saucepans and barbecue flavoured rice for me, thank you very much!
I endorse everything that other reviewers have said about how good steamed vegetables taste and about the ease of use of the steamer itself. I decided on this model partly because of my admiration for another Russell Hobbs product that I own (a slow cooker) and I'm happy to report that this unit is equally well designed.
The Russell Hobbs 3501 Steamer has quickly made itself indispensible in my kitchen and I recommend it unreservedly.
Basic but reliable February 14, 2006 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
We've had this steamer for about three years now, and it has been completely reliable and is simple to use. It has made cooking rice and veg remarkably easy, although we haven't really tried meat or fish. Our only criticism is that on ours (it may have been updated since) the bowls and tiers are not dishwasher safe. We eventually decided to put them in anyway, and they have now crazed and split, so RH were apparently telling the truth. We've now bought an alternative model, but other than the dishwasher problem the 3501 is a sturdy reliable machine well worth it's small price.
Perfect is you're a lazy cook who likes good food!! February 5, 2006 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
I was bought this steamer for Christmas and it rates in my Top 10 Best Presents Ever list. I live alone and work from home and find it really difficult to motivate myself to cook great meals, plus on my income good food dont come cheap so I usally end up buying cheap food that goes in a microwave or I stick to good 'ol' pasta n a quick sauce. With the steamer my life has changed, buy veg, potatoes, chicken, fish; cut to desired size, bung in a basket, set the timer and hey presto healthy and delicious food. It also cook pasta n rice. And if you want food in a sauce, chuck that in with the food items and a meal thats ready to eat in done in less then 1/2 hour. Amazing BUY ONE, YOU WONT REGRET IT!! Oop theres go the ding, that'll my dinner ready!!
Great Value December 28, 2005 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This steamer works really well. I used it for the first time on boxing day. I found cooking took longer than the times recommended but we were cooking for six so it might of been the amount making it take longer. The taste from the steamed vegetables was great! I will be using it all the time now and am looking forward to trying rice and fish.
Excellent value, excellent food September 29, 2005 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Simple to use, easy to clean. Veg crisp and full flavoured. Overall fantastic value for money and an effective way of improving the nutritional value of family meals.
