We bought this for 180 from Comet. I was astonished the first time we used it. Apparently our hall carpet is red! We've been in our house for three years and the carpets have never been so clean. I filled the bin after vacuuming the front hall alone.

We bought one these as a result of owning the more basic DC07 for our other home. The justification for the trade up was the acquisition of two kittens. We are not disappointed - the performance of this cleaner makes others look second best - the carpet and floors look and feel so much cleaner. Additionally, this model has a brush control switch (which the DC07 does not) so it's great for hard floors too. Yes, it isn't a featherweight cleaner but it works so well that that seems a fair price to pay for the performance it delivers. The choice of tools is great including a rotary turbo brush, and overall, it reeks of quality construction. Despite the kittens our home has never been cleaner thanks to the DC14 - unreservedly recommended - buy it.

I can't understand the fuss. As a renowned design this is just about the most awkward vacuum I have ever used. Cumbersome, heavy terrible for taking apart to clean stairs so annoying the whole process. Never again buy this label!!!!

Blimey we'd only vacuumed 2 days before receiving the Animal but all i can say is WOW, the amount of cat hair it dredged up from our carpet (which now looks cream again) made me feel a bit queezy. Heartily recommended for any one with pets
