For people having problems with this breadmaker - please change your flour September 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When we bought our Panasonic breadmaker 2.5 years ago, I left a glowing review here. Recently it started to produce flat stodgy loaves and we were very disappointed that it hadn't lasted longer than two and a half years. Having researched replacing it and putting the old one on Freecycle or sending it to a Panasonic repair centre, we decided to give it one last chance and bought Waitrose own brand flour. The results were amazing and we now have the quality of bread we have had for the last two years. We had already experimented with changing the ingredients, but obviously not enough. We had been using Hovis and Sainsbury's flour and Hovis yeast previously.
Brilliant baking September 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wonderful bread, every time. I personally like rye bread, and it does it beautifully. After only a week, I'm addicted and make a daily loaf. Look forward to experimenting with permutations and combinations of flours. A really good, easy loaf is made with Sainsbury's ready mixed flours, such as multi-grain. the whole process only takes 2 hours. My only criticism is the very quiet, short-lived "beep" to let you know the cycle is over. As the book says not to leave it in the machine when the bread is ready, this is an issue. Set another alarm?
Great Item September 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this breadmaker 2 weeks ago after extensive research. It is easy to use, to clean and has produced excellent bread (and two teacakes :). Never ever again I am going to buy bread in the supermarket!
Ryebread and Sourdough perfect. September 15, 2008 Panasonic SD 255 I bought the SD 255 because it has special ryebread settings and a special paddle for them. All the recipes I tried with rye, spelt etc worked just fine. I even found and tried the recipe for sourdough bread in the excellent recipe book (Ciabatta dough) and made the easiest sourdough bread ever. My interest is speciality breads and the 255 coped well with everything Even my husband likes it, because it is nice and quiet.
FOR MAKING GLUTEN FREE BREAD September 13, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have just been diagnosed with coeliac disease (gluten intolerence)and was advised to try baking my own gluten free bread. I have used the Juvela fibre mix bread and it turned out fantastic, popped in the ingredients and set it on the gluten free programme and came back two hours later to a finished baked loaf. The paddle was stuck in the bottom of the bread but it does say that this can happen, you just have to pull it out. Slightly disappointed that I can't use the timer for the gluten free programme and also the nut/raisn dispenser - you have to add them at the beginning. All in all a huge success and gives me hope that I can still enjoy decent bread.
