Do not buy this product August 18, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this item 6 months ago after my previous one gave up after 4 years. SincE then I have tried different types of flour, yeast etc and 50% of loaves have not come out satisfactory. I am reluctant to use the timer and off the shelf bread mixes rarELy work. I may have a bad model but I would certainly not use this model again. I have worked in the homebaking industry and have used a variety of machines, this is without a doubt the most unreliable I have seen to date
Maybe you need our workaround ... August 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We have the older version but noticing a couple of reviews with the same problem here of the paddle coming off I'm putting the workaround here too. The workaround is this - the paddle fits loosely onto the spindle so cram in a wet sunflower seed or two - pushing them in tight with a knife or your nail. Leave for 10 mins and then bake as usual - hey presto, it works again!

We had a Morphy Richards breadmaker which produced OK bread, but was always a bit 'chewy' for sandwiches. It stopped working last week and when I took it along to our local, friendly, excellent electrical repair shop, they said that Morphy Richards had withdrawn the 'spares and repairs' licence from dealers and that I would now have to pay to parcel it up and send it back just to see if it were possible to repair it. Gave up on that idea and vowed not to buy from M R again.
Looked at all the reviews for this model and took the plunge. SO pleased we did, as the bread is of a FAR superior quality to what our previous machine produced. The kids have noticed the difference too and are keen to try out all the other unusual varieties, which we could only usually get from the 'speciality bread' shelf at Tesco! In our opinion, a winner and definitely worth the price.
Exellent results July 18, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Only had this machine for 3 weeks and have to say it has been great. Have been trying out different flours and have found Tesco strong white bread flour ( red and white bag ) works the best so far.
Hovis fast action bread yeast in sachets ( you get 6 sachets in a box ) has been only yeast used so far, with great results. Have found an extra teaspoon of sugar makes a nicer loaf ( large loaf ).
Dont be tempted to lift the lid during baking ( will take the full 4 hours ) and always put the water in last, very slowly to avoid mixing contents to much ( machine does this for you ).
Bleep at the end of baking can hardly be heard.
Bread should be removed from machine as soon as possible and left to cool for half an hour.
An Electric knife is a godsend with fresh bread.
Hope this review has been of use.
first thing I've ever gone on line to review May 22, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
and that's because it's so good, dead easy to use, it doesn't even need washing up, very good bread, have used it 2 - 3 times a week for 6 months. "strong" flour for a good rise, speciality flours for flavour
