1 out of 5 stars Tefal Quick Cup   October 5, 2007

i bought this kettle yesterday and will be returning it today. i set the kettle up and waited for the water...........it doesnt take 3 seconds!
also when i had made the tea it was really weak as the water was not hot enough, it looked just like tea when the kettle hasnt been boiled, it tasted and looked horrible. it made coffee ok but i was able to drink it straight away. for the money i thought i would be getting something from the 21st century!
back to a proper kettle for me

For those who say this thing makes tea - tea infuses when introduced to water at boiling point. This thing is nowhere near. What further incenses me is that I checked all the marketing documentation before purchase, I can find nothing that states this kettle does not boil - so I assume it does. I've been had - and unfortunately I've thrown away the box as I stupidly relied on Tefal's name (NOT!)

I have tested this a few times as I thought I was doing something wrong - and obviously I wasn't. If Tefal want to retain any integrity from this fiasco then they should fully refund all who have issue and clearly CLEARLY state that this machine DOES NOT BOIL OR COME EVEN CLOSE!

I shall never buy another product from Tefal again as I honestly feel they have wrongly led me to believe that this is a kettle.

here's the dictionary definition in order to avoid any doubt:

"a metal container in which to boil liquids"

If any of the Tefal bods read this - I'd like a refund please ASAP. I bought my product today at 5.15pm and it went into the cupboard at 7.00pm

TO ALL FUTURE PURCHASERS _ STAY WELL AWAY!

PS: I GIVE THIS REVIEW ONE STAR BECAUSE I CANNOT SELECT NO STARS WHICH IS WHAT IT DESERVES!

PPS: In the heat of the moment, I forgot that this thing makes more noise that my washing machine - and that's not quiet by any means

5 out of 5 stars Give it a try   October 3, 2007

I purchased one of these the other day. Before I opened it I read reviews here and decided it was a waste of money and that I should return it unopened.

A friend of mine suggested giving it a go first, since if it was no good at its job, it could be returned anyway.

I am so glad I did! Makes great cups of tea. I drink Assam and it tastes great. Put the cup under, press the button and within seconds hot water is poring out. I actually find if you hold the cup under the nossle - the tea brews faster then with my old kettle - maybe its the pressure of the water coming out?

My advice, give it ago :)

1 out of 5 stars Expensive water filter   October 3, 2007

The concept of this is brilliant - instant tea! But after 10 days I have returned my Quickcup and got a refund.

The bottom line is that it does not heat the water hot enough to make tea using tea bags; close, but not close enough. You end up with a luke warm slightly stewed brew, that can be downed in one go, giving you no time to savour the flavour. Furthermore, on many occassions it hasn't heated the water at all.

As a water filter it works but takes for ever to dispense a tumbler full of water. And its built in setting for how much water constitues a mug full is well short. A final gripe is that the water filter jug is just too small - you will find yourself filling it up after every 3 uses.

On the plus side it was really good for warming my cup whilst preparing an esspresso ;)

So, yes a great idea but not properly realised. Wait for the Mk II...

5 out of 5 stars Try The Product Before Making Judgements.   October 3, 2007

I brought this product and I love it!

Before I would take cold filtered water from the fridge and then pour it into the kettle - which was a huge waste of energy. Paying electricity for the fridge to cool the water and then the kettle to heat it.

The water the machine produces is hot enough for any drink (including tea) and it saves a huge amount of time.

I would highly recommend this to anyone and I also like the look of it in my kitchen.
