Best chips ever - hassle free! January 31, 2008 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
I purchased the Tefal Actifry recently & I am really impressed with it, the chips are marvellous. I agree with your other reviewers about the price being steep, & the timer is too quiet, also it would be nice if it turned off automatically after the timer rings. However, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, it's marvellous to cook chips without the smell of an ordinary pan. Also you do not have the problem of storing cooking oils/solid fats between batches which I think is great. All in all an excellent purchase, hope the lid doesn't break!
Excellent, supafantastic! January 29, 2008 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
I was sick of the disgusting smell from all my previous deep fat fryers and came across this wonderful gadget. As soon as I got it, it was out of the box and on with the chips. I used olive oil, being the healthy option, waited thirty five minutes and "Hey Presto!" they were done. Me and my wife devoured most of them, and took some to our neighbours for confirmation of how great they tasted, yep they agreed.I used a chip cutter on the french fry setting at first. but as soon as the first batch was gone I made another batch of chips on the larger setting on my chip cutter, and cooked them for 40 minutes. Absolutely fantastic! Like previous comments that people have said, yep the alarm timer is a little quiet. I was reluctant to part with 149, but now I am well impressed and dont feel ripped off. Excellent. go and buy one right now!
Excellent concept with major design fault- 150 down the drain January 15, 2008 48 out of 53 found this review helpful
Firstly, this gadget does indeed produce tasty chips without the mess and unhealthy nature of a conventional deep fat fryer. It is rather noisy, and it's a pity that it doesn't stop automatically, but until recently I thought it was a wonderful device and worth every penny.
Unfortunately though after three months of use it has become a useless waste of money. The clear plastic lid is far too weak and has cracked internally where it joins the rear part of the lid. I hasten to add that it has not been mistreated at all.
I am therefore not a happy customer at all and until Tefal bring out a properly executed version I would sadly advice you to steer clear of this item.
This will get your boys peeling potatoes January 11, 2008 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
I was really attracted by the possibility of cooking chips with 1 tablespoon of oil and bought this fryer as a joint family present during a trip to the UK. Its expensive but worth it and is a real hit with the family. If anything will get your hungry kids peeling potatoes this will. Our eleven year old twins prepare their own chips, carefully weighting the exact amount of potatoes, peeling and slicing them. It's been great for snacks during the school holidays.
Oh dear!! January 10, 2008 21 out of 26 found this review helpful
Great idea. Good diced potatoes. Lovely bananas! BUT....that's all I managed before it broke. Badly made.
