Ace ashes to ashes March 23, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Brilliant CD great songs to dance round the kitchen to.Only wish they'd made it a double album and put the rest of the songs that was on the TV programme.
Good songs but... March 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good selection of songs but I would have thought as the series is set in 81 that they could have found enough songs from that year?
Also why have they left out songs that were actually featured? I thought some of the songs went so well with the theme or action on the screen, such as Planet Earth and Careless Memories from Duran Duran and Same Old Scene from Roxy Music...odd.
Awesome 80's March 22, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Whether you're a fan of the show or not (I'm the former), this album has an impressive and varied selection of early 80's music. It's good to see that they've included all of the songs from important scenes in the series making this a must buy for Ashes to Ashes fans and 80's music lovers alike!
Misguided........ March 21, 2008 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
A great TV show or film, accompanied with a poor soundtrack, how many times does this happen? Sometimes you really have to wonder who compiles these compilations. I can only assume that whoever did this, was in a hurry.
The Stranglers - No More Heroes (1977) The Clash - I Fought The Law (1979) Joe Jackson - It's Different For Girls (1979) Flying Lizards - Money (1979) Bryan Ferry - Let's Stick Together (1976)
The music in the show was supposed to relate to 1981 and although some of the above are great songs, they are slightly out of their time.
Also, why has Duran Duran's somewhat underrated classic 'Careless Memories' been removed from the original tracklisting I saw a few weeks back. It was used in the show and worked really well with Gene Hunt's first appearance in the Quattro. But its curious by its absense here. It appears to have been omitted in favour of 'Girls On Film'. Why can't these compilers stick their necks out once in while, and do something a little bit different, instead of just playing safe.
All in all, this is disappointing stuff, which is a shame for such a great show.

No Quattro? March 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great compilation of most of the best tracks from the show. I'd have liked a few more Hunt-isms and I'm really disappointed that "fire up the Quattro" isn't on there!
