5 out of 5 stars Does what is says on the tin   July 12, 2008

Well for Madonna's 11th and latest album she has made it a very good one!
For starters she has featured with other people such as:
Justin Timberlake
Timbaland
Kanye West
Pharell

So the more the merrier!

Now for the tracks:

1. Candy Shop 9/10
A Good starter to the album, bouncy and erotic with Pharell. Very Good, likley for a release as a single.

2. 4 Minutes 10/10
The best track on the album. The hit single that zoomed to number one as fast as a Ferrari car with passengers Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. Very well written and god choice as a single.

3. Give it 2 me 10/10
The second single (which comes out on the 14th) which has a bouncy and catchy tune again with Pharell. Another good choice for a single and should need another Ferrari car to get to it's rightful spot.

4. Heartbeat 7/10
Nice tune and very good beat. This makes the heart beat.

5. Miles Away 10/10*

In my opinion (not including the singles) this is the best track on the album. I love it! It's catchy and is well written. Hopefully a release of a single, but they need to shorten it a bit.

6. She's not me 8/10

Brilliant song about a relationship. Could be a single.

7. Incredible 6/10

Okay, Not that exciting culd do with more oomph.

8. Beat goes on 9/10

Cool song with a cool appearence from Kanye West. It's bouncy catchy and I like the lyrics.

9. Dance 2night 6/10

Nice use of the voice

10.Spanish Lessons 8/10

Love the spanish bit at the start on the gutair.

11. Devil Wouldn' Recognise You 5/10

Don't really get this track but it's okay.

12. Voices

Decent tune nice lyrics calm

So a bouncy album with 10 good tracks

Ray of Light is the happiest choon of all time, the peak of Madonna IMHO

Unfortunately, like any other Mid-life crisis, Madge is now attempting to get wiv da kidz...and it doesn't work...
She's no GMILF, so really needs to try a recapture her former creative talent without the use of cheap p0rn
(e.g. fake lust with Britney, and look what happened to her!)

I guess for diehard fans who had my last review taken down this review will be as popular as fencing large tracts of public access land in a failed attempt to be aristocracy; she's even got a Butler who theoretically might challenge every single negative review of her work...

This album does as much for the musical genre
as adopting a child (from the third world) then divorcing a year later does for family values.

Better luck next time madge...

I've liked Madonna on and off since she started in the 80's with 'Holiday'. I bought most of her early stuff when it was still sold on vinyl but for some strange reason stopped buying her music when it went on to CD format. Since then, some of her music grabbed me, some didn't, but I've always admired her ability to transform herself with the times. I think Madonna has the Marmite factor - you either love her or you hate her! Anyway,I happened to be listening to the radio on the way to work one morning and heard '4 minutes' being played. I recognised Timberlake's voice and assumed it was his new song, no problem, I like his music and was really getting into this song when I recognised Madge's voice. I happen to work in a supermarket so I thought I'd check this out in the CD section and bought 'Hard Candy' on the strength of just that track. As you cannot buy CD singles anymore, I was a bit concerned that I was effectively paying 10 for this one track but do you know I haven't looked back - it was the best tenner I've spent in a long while! Everytime I listen to it I like it more and more. I love track 3, 'Give it to me' and track 6, 'She's not me'. My son, who's 11, and quick to criticise my taste in music, has been caught endlessly playing track 7, 'Incredible' I just cannot understand all these other reviews that say she's trying too hard to be young and trendy, so what! It is what it is - bloody good, dancing music. I'm 46 yrs old, nearly as old as dear Madge herself, and I think it's one of her best productions in all the years I've been listening to her. Are these negative reviews written by ageist youngsters who think that anyone over 40 should only be listening to Il Divo with a cup of cocoa at hand? I've recommended this CD to everyone, young and old. I play it over and over again, when I'm doing the housework, when I'm relaxing with a drink and especially when I'm driving, which I hate, but this CD makes my journeys over too soon! Go on, buy it, I don't think you'll regret it!!!

3 out of 5 stars A mixed bag of candy   June 20, 2008

A quick review of each song for you busy people out there...

Candy Shop - is tongue in cheek, I'd give it 5 stars if it didn't have the tragic rap from Pharrell - 4/5
4 Minutes - Would be better if there was more Madonna, less Timberlake - 3/5
Give It To Me - Abysmal lyrics, possibly written by an 8 year old, and what the heck is that "get stupid" bridge about?? - 2/5
Heartbeat - Not too bad - 3/5
Miles Away - Reminds me of some classic Madonna songs - 4/5
She's Not Me - Quite funky and fun - 3.5/5
Incredible - Starts off very well but descends into a load of crap - 2/5
Beat Goes On - This is more like it... Funky, dancey, floor-filler - 5
Dance 2Night - Very cool, reminds me of the Confessions Tour version of Erotica - 5
Spanish Lesson - Oh dear, she's lost the plot again, terrible! - 1/5
Devil Wouldn't Recognize You - Another reminder of classic Madge - 4/5
Voices - Unfinished Sympathy meets an East European Eurovision entry - 4/5

So the average of those scores on the doors is... 3.375!!

3 out of 5 stars not that great.....3 good songs...others really poor.   June 19, 2008
