5 out of 5 stars For the Doctor Who fan at heart!   February 16, 2006

I bought this for myself a week or so ago, although I couldn't use it until the other day because I had to order the batteries, and let me say it was well worth the wait! The light is strong, the sound is great and it's great fun for the child at heart.

The batteries, however, aren't included - AG13 batteries are also known as LR44 as I learnt later - they're not ordinary batteries but buttons cells, and pretty expensive. Amazon sell them however, and I was about to buy a packet of 10 of around £5, so don't despair.

A great gift for any Doctor Who fan.

My son so wanted this toy from Santa and all I can say is what a complete waste of money - it feels like being robbed handing £9.99 over for this total load of tat!! My 6 year old son lost interest in it after 5 minutes and hasn't looked at it since!! The batteries (like the Dr Who Tardis money box - another load of tat) aren't included and they are quite expensive. Pls don't waste your money or disappoint your little one by buying this product - they could probably invent better in their imagination!!

I bought the sonic screwdriver from amazon when it first came out. the light wasnt very bright from the start, but has now gone ompleatly dull - even with new batteries.
I went and bought a new one from somewhere else - it came with batteries! and the light is super bright!
Must be a new batch, as the colour of the holder is slightly differnt and its supplied with batteries.
By the way, for those who dont have batteries I found out that Ag13 batteries are otherwise known as LR44, (AG13 is apparently no longer used to decribe these batteries - good huh!)
If the new batch are anything go by, this is an excellent toy.
