Excellent purchase - thanks reviewers! April 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We spent a long time researching monitors for our first baby due in June, as I didn't want to waste what can be a considerable amount of money. Amazon's reviewers persuaded me to buy the BT monitor 150 and I'm very pleased so far. I'm currently downloading the CDs that my Mum made me onto my IPOD so I can play these to my bump at bedtime - very useful feature! Everything's as promised so far, and I'm looking forward to playing with it and discovering all the features! Very good value for money I'd say.
Works well but some flaws April 1, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a feature packed monitor with clear sound. After all, clear, interference free sound is what matters most and it delivers on this respect. However, there are some flaws, at least with my unit:
- Sound Alert and Vibrate don't work unless you turn the volume all the way down using the volume keys. If you press the mute button they don't work. - Even if you remember to turn it down instead of pressing mute, the volume required to activate Sound Alert and Vibrate is too high for our newborn and cannot be changed. - The talk-back button on the parent unit is too easy to press accidentally, which may blast sound out of the baby unit. - It is too easy to press the talk-back button whilst turning off the torch, resulting in a loud feedback screech if both units are too close together. - There is no feedback detection, so you get a loud screech if both units are too close together. - It sometimes makes my BT cordless phone lose connection with the base-station if they are close together.
Maybe another reviewer can let me know if they have the same flaws.
Don't let this put you off however, I researched carefully before buying this and I am still pleased with my purchase. The other functions work well and I hope BT can fix the flaws with the next version.
Good product with only one flaw so far March 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Had this product for a few days now and on the whole are pleased with the results. Like other reviewers, I would agree that the reception and sound quality is exceptionally good and the baby unit only has to be in the same room to pick up most baby grunts. Also, being digital there is practically no hiss from the parent unit even when the volume is turned up full.
My only problem I have with this product is that the parent unit only works of the rechargable batteries even when it is plugged into the charger. If the batteries don't have enough charge in them then the speaker in the parent unit does not switch on. The lights on the parent unit show noise in the baby room but you don't hear anything. I phoned the BT helpline and they confirmed this to be the case and advised to recharge the batteries fully before continuing. I was told that I could remove the batteries from the parent unit and just have it plugged into the charger but I have found that the parent unit does not function at all without the batteries.
So, when it does work it works well but annoying that the parent unit only works from the batteries. Note, the baby unit will work of the mains or batteries. I can't see why they couldn't have done the same with the parent unit.
Like the other reviewers, the other features are very good especially the talk back feature that allows you to communicate from the parent unit to the baby unit.
A quality purchase March 27, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
With our baby due next month I have spent the past 6 weeks preparing the nursery and buying all of the essentials. Having read excellent reviews on Amazon I opted to purchase the BT Monitor and am very impressed. Though I am still currently enjoying my last few weeks of freedom and have no baby I have been experimenting with the monitor. The sound is crystal clear even with our WiFi and mobile phones in nearby rooms. The lullaby and nightlight are excellent as they mean two less things to buy and it's very reassuring to have the room temperature alarm. I like being able to communicate 2 ways via the monitor and as someone who is forever losing everything, I will greatly benefit from the built in pager to locate a misplaced hand set. Should the baby monitor become unplugged the adult handset will alert you. It seems everything has been though of and I would completely recommend this monitor.
excellent, no need to look anywhere else March 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I searched the web and all the usual shops for a monitor. We had one for our first child and this was a replacement as we sold on the first one years ago. It does everything you need and is small and feels good in your hand. Our baby likes the music and the battery life of the parent bit is fine. we own a townhouse and the range easily covers the whole 3 stories and more - even in the garden etc...
Basically, I like value for money and technology and searched high and low for the best. I personally feel this is all you need and not as expensive as others with all the same tricksy bits.
